just finished the video, and wow, do i have a lot to say! (by the time i finished, i realized just how much i wrote. how embarrassing!) to start off, return to dream land was the first kirby game i ever played, and also my favorite game as a little kid. granted, i wasn't super skilled - i still haven't completed my file 100% - but it still is very dear to me and holds a special place in my heart (so much so that when they announced rtdl deluxe, i started crying of joy.) then, pair that up with one of my more recent interests, which is tool assisted speedruns, and this video... this video just becomes the perfect video to appeal to my past and current self. i loved watching it, and seeing the speed optimizations, and the little dances and inputs to the beat, and the captions (by the way, i saw that! nice indeed ;) and then when i saw you purposefully avoided every star afterwards to maintain that number i couldn't help but laugh. i also learned a lot! somehow, i never knew those little key guys were called "carry dees" - what a cute name! i wonder if they're a variant of waddle dees at all? also, that morse code - i should translate it, actually. i was so focused on the video that i didn't have time to interpret it. seeing the game of my childhood played through so quickly and perfectly? it felt as if i could see my memories flashing before me. i'd see sections and say, "hey, i remember that!" such a special feeling that i don't know how to replicate, but feeling it now was magical... also, it is really beautiful at high resolution, i was surprised! my only issue? kirby's sad face during the goal game. i know jumping as soon as possible is fastest, but oh, kirby, don't be sad... it's alright... overall, an amazing video, an amazing tas, and an amazing experience. thank you so much for making this, and well done! EDIT: ...yeah, i can't translate that. i am not very intelligent! wait, i do remember a question i had, though. would having two players make the run faster at all? and if so, would it make a difference if it was two players for the whole run or just another player hopping in and out? does what character matter? would TWICE the wing kirby be any help? what about bandee, meta knight, and dedede? ...sorry, just curious!
Yo so i commented on this a year earlier, just wondering if you’re getting the nee kirby’s return to dreamland deluxe, I got it yesterday and its pretty cool
5-2 and 5-3 both suffer from the same problem of having an enemy close to the flag pole that can't be moved off-screen. Whenever Mario touches the flag pole, all enemies on-screen are killed and Mario is awarded points for each enemy killed.
I had no Idea you could get rid of the Boos like that! But how do you know which Boos will be offscreen when the timer runs out? Brilliant math or dumb luck?
