Is it possible to make a stainless steel (3mm thickness) disc into bowl ? I need advice like what is the failure rate ( like how many not cracked bowls out of ten)
I am restoring the same model press and mill as you. I was wondering if you would be willing to share the dimensions of the paddle wheel to me so I would be able to recreate it. When the press I am working on was bought it did not have a paddle wheel.
Nicely done, and nothing broke lol. I really expected one of those two wooden beams to break, though, but they held up. Good job! Is that log going to the sawmill?
Great information! I'm in the process of rebuilding a Hocking Valley press from parts, so I'm curious about a couple of things. What type of paint did you use for the cast iron? And what finish (if any) did you use for the white oak that will be in contact with the cider?
The cast iron was painted with a 2 part automotive paint. The baskets are unfinished. Not shown in the video is a stainless steel tray with a spout that rests in the bottom tray. So the baskets are the only wood which the cider would touch. The rest od the wood frame is just some Spar Varnish.
For making counter-feit money? All seriousness aside, I'm guessing, wildly, that it's 4 making dies 4 a printing press of some sort. Btw, does this thingamajig have a diamond tip?
Yes, you can spin on any lathe. But lots of pressure is put on the bearings. Little parts like these not so much, though. You need to be able have a spinning rest mounted and you’re good to go. Speed (RPM) is needed, too. So the upper end of the lathes pulleys should be used.
I have the new hermes super GTX-U model. Perfect condition except the mechs are sticky. Wondering what kind of oil to use to get it back in engraving condition. It was sitting in storage a long time. Are there any engravers blogs ?
Nice work. Seems like the ramps will need to be at the height of the bottom of the log and be anchored well in order to get it off the trailer. What size winch is this?
How were you able to have parts cast for the peeler. I am missing the bar and attachment that ejects the apple and core. Do you have contact infornation for these parts?
Hi Chris, I have a Goodell also that needs some parts recast. Can you tell me who you sent your parts to to be recast and what was the cost of them? Thanks, Brian
Hi, Brian. I cant recommend the guy I used. He took many months to get the part to me and that was after I had to hound him for it. He did do a good job, but I wouldn't trust he would ever get to it.
