I was surprised when I saw this video. Starting next week, I will be living just past this high school for two years. My workplace is in the area of Pohnpei State Hospital. I plan to walk in the morning, but I am now thinking about how I will get to work on the way home. I found it useful to learn the route with feeling the love for your children.
What does "De oppresso liber" mean? “It is US Army tradition,” that the motto of the US Special Forces, de oppresso liber, is Latin for “[to free from oppression]” or “[to liberate the oppressed]”. It isn’t, it means ‘from [being]an oppressed person [he became or becomes] a free person.’ Just as for example de servo civis is ‘from a slave [he becomes/became] a citizen.’ I would be willing to believe this is ballpark-OK for ‘free the oppressed’, if not great.
I retired as an E-9 MGySgt, and although I know the roll of a SgtMaj, when politics are involved you commonly see some type of officer or higher command speaking. He clearly looks unprepared and I blame his command for that.
