This channel is dedicated to fishing on a budget. Lots of tackle reviews and how to videos. My channel will focus on modifying lures that have worked for me. I’ve been bass fishing on a serious level since age 10 and fishing all my life. These mods and techniques work for me. I’m not sponsored by any company shown in the videos
I have found that using 2 rigs I get more “life” out of them. The first is a screw lock into the nose or the tush from core tackle. The tush seems to be the better of the 2. Longer life and actually more of a natural presentation.
If you are going to nose rig it on a drop shot, I would recommend picking up some Small owner cps springs to screw into the nose to keep it from immediately torn off because they really are like paper and get shredded easily.
panoramas are good to me i use the two smallest sizes i don’t have the hooks for the two big sizes the last me about 3-4 fish before they are toast but for me that’s worth it for the results
I tossed one around Tuesday for a short time. No bites but I seen the potential in a few riggings. I wasn’t looking to get bit exactly, rather find the action I liked
Really enjoy squarebill fishing. I live in South Louisiana and was throwing a 13 Fishing Jabberjaw and Warthog today inbetween a spinnerbait and weightless Zoom trick worm...had a good day!
those damn 6th sense sonar minnows are the greatest for me i don’t even care they only last like two fish i’ve been using more rigs than ever just as an excuse to throw one on this free rig is another thing for me to try i had seen the technique but i didn’t realize there was a stopper so i never tried it because it didn’t make sense now it does
I use the stopper or stoppers. Some don’t. This is what works best for me and I hope it does you as well. The stopper to me allows more movement in the bait. I’ll even swim this rig and not let it hit bottom. Just depends on what is on bottom.
personally i love longer videos always the thing that annoys me about cheaper spinnerbaits is sometimes (maybe my fault?) the braid somehow gets wrapped on the arm and winds up pinched in the wire where the knot is tied or even around the swivels of the blade and i have to check for that
Just trying to mix it up on video length. 1.5k people watched a video and only 106 are subscribers. The hack works. I don’t find many times I need to do it. With braid I tie the palomar knot.
it’s easier to slow down the crank speed than it is to have to speed it up def err on the side of a faster reel even if you have to sacrifice some torque im gonna be reeling more of the day than i will be fighting the fish of a lifetime 😂
@@addicted_to_fishing oops i think it’s more of a chartreuse and green but i always get hooked on that combo of half and half chartereuse and blues/greens/bluegreens i see it and i want to buy
I lose over $400 worth of lures every year. Never used one of these. Do you just slide it down your line until it lands on the lure and try to snag it?
It works great. More times than not I use the sinkers with the metal loop at the top and a snap. I do a lot of walking to some of my spots and these fit my pocket and keep my tackle lite. The buoy is a great idea.
Places like Ollie's will always have one or two gems you can't find anywhere else because no one tackle shops at Ollie's and everywhere else is sold out.
almost bought one of those plug knockers a month ago decided to buy some lures instead and proceeded to lose those lures and two others instead over the next month😂 also i recommend a pole pruner for people like me that lose just as many up in trees at least to keep in the car and hike back to it also old fishing line is the worst!
have you ever used one of those spoilers that you clamp to your rod? i have one of those and it works pretty well but the spool kinda migrates along the screw that its on so you have to stop and move the spool back in place every few seconds and it can only hold the spool horizontal
Yes and those are the exact reasons I don’t anymore. Spooling a spinning reel that way will cause line twist. You can make them easy and cheaply enough. I have a Plano line box that works great for a bait caster. Those are the easy reels so to say to spool. You can use anything that will hold the spool upright
The Lews LFS $99.99 reels are the best buy, then spend any extra money on a good quality rod. The Zodias Shimano rods are a very good rod for the dollar.
Lews are not bad. I’ve owned Shimano and Diawa all my life. The entire SLX line is great for the money. $100 for rod or reel. Unless you want the DC or MGL.
@@addicted_to_fishing, Ive owned the Shimano(green Curados), Daiwa, and Abu, in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s. In 2018 I started updating my rods and reels and now have settled on the Lews LFS, with a couple of Daiwas, and a couple of Shimano Curado 70 MGL’s. I’ve not used the Shimano SLX rods, but have tried a Zodias and it is very good, the Expride is better. The Expride is an under $300 rod that has the feel and sensitivity of a $4-500 rod.
Most of the SlX now brings that high end technology to a budget price point. The 24 slx 70a has the mgl III spool and from what I understand feels like a $500 reel at a $149 price point. I’ve used lews as well, but I’ve used Shimano so long it’s hard to pass them by.
8:46 i have a few of those but its chartreuse and green with a curly tail it is also berkeley came in a walmart bass fishing tackle kit i picked up to use while im in the work truck i hadn’t had any luck with it but i would love to find more of them because i think they look great
i’m on my third total tackle reorganization this year lol 😅everytime i see a new idea or one into ONE issue out on the water i change my whole organization system im gonna figure out what works for me eventually *lol the cabelas credit card sign up hacks i support that
The bait ball by live target can still be found! Tackle warehouse shows them for $12.99. I would recommend looking around and comparing prices. They are very productive and mine have held up pretty good with the catches I’ve had with them.
can you do any tips about avoiding junk baits and tackle? no need to mention brands if you don’t want to but if it’s possible to eye test with your experience and avoid poorly built lures and tackle with poor components before we find out on the water
what is a rod sleeve good for? i almost bought one today but i realized i wouldn’t know why i was buying it and the package didn’t really explain doesn’t seem like it would prevent breakage i’m more used to a rod tube hope your health gets better man
Rod sleeves protect your rods while storing or traveling. If you have a boat or not, rod sleeves protect your investment. They would keep the rods from rubbing in a rod locker or even in a multi rod tube. They absolutely won’t prevent a break or bent eyes if you step or drop the rod. Same as a reel sock. I’m doing ok. Switched diabetes medication and fine tuning it. Also a torn meniscus in my right knee
that kastking box looks great they seem to make a lot of good products i am basically like you i keep a backpack of a small selection of lures and a terminal tackle box. i have a small tackle box for a different set of conditions as i bank fish and i keep a main tackle box in the car that has everything else i like to keep my couple backpack lures loose and leave the bags in the main box i like to fish light as if im fly fishing lol just this stuff doesn’t fit in a vest i ain’t at the level where i got stuff in the garage yet!
The kastking box is legit and is an almost exact duplicate of the Plano edge box. I like that the lid opens without the latch. I wanted to “test” them before I made any true review of them. For the price they can’t be beat. I use the big Plano totes to haul the main gear I carry and leave it in the car. I’m going to try for more day boxes to cut the amount I carry in my backpack. I don’t need that entire 3600 box full of bladed jigs every trip, so making a smaller box mixed with baits will help reduce weight. I’ve been getting lighter and lighter every season. When you walk a lot it’s easier with less of the needed gear. My original bag had to weigh 80lbs. Then I made the switch to the pack and 3600 boxes and it made a huge difference. Thank you for the comment. It’s been hectic here, but a new video will be dropping soon. Probably a rod and reel video
I can pour some swim bait heads or the poison tail. I don’t currently make ball head jigs or jigs with a weed guard. The poison tail I make bladed, swim jig /swim bait heads out of them. I can do a step by step.
That’s why I make them. Kinda glad it’s a process in making the bladed jigs or I’d have a couple hundred. Not including the ZMan and other customs I’ve had made
@@addicted_to_fishing I always wanted to make my own but the doing it mold doesn't accommodate the hook I want. Not all it's mold support gamakatsu, owner or hayabusa hook model. And those are some of the best hook money can buy. I wanted a strong and sharp hook right out if the box and sad to say not all hook are made that way.
What mold? The Poison tail? It accommodates a VMC, Trokar or Owner hook. I’ve used them. The mustad hooks aren’t bad. I’ve yet to bend one out. The Owner and trokars I’ve used were flippin hooks that I cut there bait keeper off.
I’m not sure on those. I do know a dremmel can be handy to make slight mods to the molds. I didn’t make any mods for the hooks I’m using or have tried. They all fit the poison tail. Do-it recommends a hook but others seem to work as well
Thanks Matthias. I try to provide content for everyone. I try to keep in mind everyone can’t afford high dollar equipment. You could sink thousands of dollars in rods and reels alone and only have a couple or find good equipment cheaper.
You just might win something. I have been busy and had a delay in more parts and powder paint. I’m going to try this week to finish some and do this giveaway
