Just design it with insulation and small wind openings. I live in South Florida so cold isn't the concern here, dissipating heat and providing roof and wind protection is.

Hello, I came across this amazing collection of family history which includes my Mom’s side of our family. She is pictured on page 24 along with my grandparents and aunts and uncles. My Mom is Ilene in that image. I watched the whole thing a few times now. Is there any chance I could get a copy of your fantastic collection? Let me know if that’s possible and what the cost would be. Thank you for having this information to see! I am Carol (Follendorf) Broadley, Ilene’s youngest child.
Surely. I'll be happy to get this together for you. I'll get to it this week. Great to hear from you. My email is rickinpalmharbor@gmail.com. Please forward your address and I'll get it right out to you. 😁
I am so impressed with your explanation. I am going to watch it several more times to see if I can’t get to the point that I can actually understand it. I love you!
It's a great cat shelter. 😀 AND it looks like you placed it under cover too ! You guys inspired me to walk down the isles of a home center store for ideas.
I built one of those cadios back before pintress.. daughter helped wife tried until we banded her. 8x10x6 covered in the expensive wire fencing. We have coyotes possums coons dogs all over. They got lites perches grass katnip everything. I built a 1×2×10 covered walkway 6 feet in the air that drops them in. I have it hooked to a window w a thick board and it has a small dog door in it. Wife has a large cat toy thing they jump up and out they go. 24/7/365. Spoiled little brats have had it for about 9 years? Might be less. I call it cat jail. Came from a I wonder moment.
Yes, the dogs can't get into his safe sunroom. There are no animals to fear. The occasional possum or armadillo is just watched with disinterest. It's the rare small mouse and lizards that have to fear the cat's night vision. ;-)
I bet the Raccoons love it, too. If it's floor was: 40" from the ground, instead of: 24", Raccoons would have an extremely difficult time, getting in--especially if you skirt the structure, with smooth material. Neat idea--be encouraged--but for a more general practicality, those important listed features help keep cats safe (from: disease & attacks), & well-fed.
Looks great! Seeing what your cat is doing I suggest you add a rubbing/scratching post at that entrance. A 2x4 wrapped in 1/2 inch sisal rope would probably do fine, and protect the poly-carbonate from premature fatigue.
I used an old igloo with boxes and blankets an heat reflection pads. I have 3 barn garage cats. The Male cat is some what of a bully. He sleeps in the garage.
On the plastic bin. We live in Florida so the bin is cool like the inside tile, and the pets prefer it. If the temperature was cool, I'd add a cat bed. If we lived in a colder climate, I'd insulate the entire enclosure.
i love the way the cat jumped into the other area just as he was talking about it! lol. actually, just the fact that the cat was IN it gained him a lot of credibility too. (lots of videos of cat houses with no cat using it on youtube if you didn't know!).
LOL. I suppose I should have thought about the snow. My goodness, what was I thinking? Well, if I ever move out of Florida and move above the frost line I'll have to remember that. Seriously, if you're somewhere cold, it would just be adjusted a bit with foam insulation board and a door flap with stairs.
I love love love this. Im thinking about creating a cat city in my lawn. By that I mean creating tons of different cat houses and adopting all the cats I can find.
