I love the outdoors and spending time with my family. I believe in self reliance.
I try to mix my channel with videos from my life including work and play. One day you might see a video about design-build construction and the next you may see a video of me interviewing someone famous like Bernardo Kastrup or Curt Jaimungal.
Lately I have been exploring a passion I have had since my childhood, interviewing "People I Find Interesting" (PiFi) so check out that series in my playlists and the website here thepifishow.com
I appreciate all of you and if you have any suggestions for making my channel better please do not hesitate to leave me a comment.
So how do you keep the rim joist from pulling away from the joists and causing the railing to lean out? My deck had rails built like this who knows how many years ago and the rim joist is pulling away causing the rail to lean.
Sounds like poor workmanship. I’ve been building for 45 years and never had that issue because the band is nailed to every joist and if your band is pulling woo, that means it wasn’t secured well to the joist.
@@kanaancross317 what do you get there in CA? It’s a cool course. The reference material is worth the cost. If they still give as much that you can download
No but technically, if you look at the span tables, you could probably use 2x8 at 16 inches on center but I would stick with the two by tens. Ironically, if I was using 2x8, I would go ahead and put the bridging in haha
@ArtisanTony thank you so much, not to indulge but I'm working with my brother in law and he's convinced himself he's a carpenter and I'm paying for the lumber at bidenomics prices and he's told me 5 different ways he wants to do the subfloor, hence why I sought you out. I have learned so much from your tutorial, again thank you and you now have a subscriber for life
@@roninpe Thanks, I use 3/4"x4'x8' Advantech for the subfloor material. It is strong and does well if it gets rained in a few times before the roof goes on.
There are many ways to do these things. This worked and was 10 years ago and I haven't heard from the customer that it hasn't worked :) I wouldn't get too caught up in the social media wood working fads :) I am a real guy doing this every day and for a long time. I am not some social media influencer looking for clout :)
@@ArtisanTony He's the only major player trying to get people to understand the danger posed. Unrestricted AI will destroy humanity. There is nothing that indicates otherwise.
I had to check and believe it or not it was the same day but we had this interview earlier than the attempt on Trump by a few hours. Thanks for the comment.
@@chiphappenedok I looked up the time of the attempt and it said 5:11 PM central. Our interview was 1:00 PM eastern and last 2 1/2 hours. Do you know the time stamp when he said it?
Why is this so suppressed? I have been looking for information about these plasmas 4 dimensional beings, but I have not really been able to find anything about the subject matter
@@carlfranz6805 They must only allow books from certain sellers on shorts. It was kind of crazy. The process would not go forward until I deleted the products.
Jack I believe you are being excluded because you mix hatful politics with science, with phydics. Trump is being investigated under the Espionage Act. He has scores of felony convictions, an adjudicated rapist, impeached twice, he's well paid by Putin. Will never understand why you can't see these things.
Do you see how the ufo on this reel has the outside surface. That is spot on to what the tic tac looked like. Not the shape but how the surface looked.
@@hatchett999ify we have more trees on earth now than we’ve ever had in history. Using wood is actually a very efficient method for construction and steel is much more environmentally unfriendly than we wood. Ditch your our crazy politics in your life will be happier.
@@ArtisanTony im extremely happy!!! No politics here. Using up man made material that doesn’t rot easily is more useful. More treason earth than ever before?? You sure about that??
@@hatchett999ify I have been in the industry for 45 years and have thoroughly learned how responsible the construction industry has become through efforts such as LEED I am a certified Construction Technologist through the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and am very familiar with specifications for third party verification on responsible wood products. Environmental Impact of Steel Production: High Energy Consumption: Steel production requires significant amounts of energy, primarily from fossil fuels, leading to high carbon emissions. Carbon Emissions: The steel industry is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, particularly CO2, due to the combustion of coal and other carbon-intensive processes. Resource Extraction: Mining iron ore and other raw materials for steel production can cause land degradation, habitat destruction, and pollution. Waste Generation: The steel production process generates various forms of waste, including slag, dust, and other pollutants that need to be managed. Environmental Impact of Wood Construction: Carbon Sequestration: Trees absorb CO2 as they grow, and wood products can continue to store carbon, making them a more sustainable option. Renewable Resource: Wood is a renewable resource if sourced from sustainably managed forests. Lower Energy Use: Processing wood into construction materials typically requires less energy compared to steel production. Biodiversity and Soil Health: Sustainable forestry practices can maintain biodiversity and soil health, though poor practices can lead to deforestation and habitat loss. Considerations: Sustainable Practices: The environmental impact of both materials can vary significantly based on the sustainability of their production practices. Sustainable forestry and advanced steel production techniques can mitigate some negative impacts. Lifecycle Analysis: Evaluating the full lifecycle of both materials-from extraction and production to construction, use, and disposal-provides a comprehensive view of their environmental impact. In summary, using wood for construction generally has a lower environmental impact than steel, especially when sourced from sustainably managed forests. However, advancements in steel production and sustainable practices in both industries are essential for minimizing their respective environmental footprints.
@@hatchett999ify You are just practicing ignorance. You can have a bunch of tress around you and have a wood framed structure too. I hate to break it to you buy 99.9999 percent of all homes are framed with wood. You just need to learn some things about how the industry works. But you are probably an old grumpy man who can't learn anything new, lol
