🤣.. Hey Pieter, thanks for checking in.. 👍🏻well kinda, as with all things there are a few variables, this one being how far are you in your filmmaking journey and how much do you enjoy editing 🙂 ... Both are super fun and each can do stuff the other can't.. I have both, but, I'm a camera junkie!! 🤣
@@lekkarides "there are no solutions, only tradeoffs" comes to mind. Really enjoying your content, also built up a CB500X as a bit of a "Halfrica Twin". Most recent addition is a touring screen from Kappa (the PUIG one I'd have to import so 2x the price). I've installed it but not tested, looking forward to a bit of time and good weather.
@@pieterrossouw8596 sounds like you have a summer of fun times ahead of you. 😁. Bring it on ☀️🏝️. If you happen to be in Cape Town then we have a lekka filmmaking workshop brewing, if that’s something you might be interested in. Howzit, thanks for stopping by 🙂. They are very cool and if you like editing you can have a great deal of fun with one coming up with ways to capture some cool shots @insta360za #insta360za
I’m going to pick up my GS towards the end of October from Donford motors in CT and I must drop by your place to get some advice on camping gear and tours around Western Cape.
Hi Michale, sounds like you have a South African adventure coming up soon. Please round me up when you get here, I'd be more than happy to shoot the breeze over a coffee and chat about travel in this part of the world. Looking forward to it. Drop me a note when you get here to: howzit@lekkarides.com 👍🏻🇿🇦😁
Ready to level up your motorcycle filmmaking? 🎥 With so many cameras out there, choosing the right one can be tough. In this quick video, I'll share my thoughts on the two most popular options and my top pick for those riders on their filmmaking journey. Howzit, thanks for stopping by. I’m almost certain that any lubrication at anytime is better than none. So far it’s been a real winner, even out in the bundu’s as it’s just a quick twist and the chain gets a boost of goo. So easy. 😁
I had a gerat time messing about rest out this Nemo 2, we will see if it helps keep the chain in better shape but I must say that's it's WAAAAY easier doing it this way that faffing about in the garage. If you have one of these installed already, how do you find it?
@@lekkarides Team Green it is Bro We’ve got plenty opportunities for some excellent riding Dayz here in Sydney & surrounding areas I’m gonna have a good summer
Thanks for stopping by. I'm sorry I must of missed that link for you. Here is the place you can get yourself a Honda CB500X engine guard. It really is a very nicely made tough and strong. Give the friendly guys at Flying Brick a shout and they can organise to get one shipped to you. Here is the link and I've also update the description links to include it for others.Ride safe. Mike @ LekkaRides Honda CB500X Engine Guard: flyingbrick.co.za/product/rockfox-engine-guard-honda-cb500x/
Great demo, thanks. I just ordered one. I've tried complicated Scotoiler systems before, but always found them to be inreliable. I like the simplicity of the Nemo.
Hey Robert, glad you found it helpful. Keep us posted on how you get on with your Nemo 2. I'll do a follow up review in a few months to see how it fared. Ride safe. LR
Thanks, it was lekka easy to install and will be interesting to see how it fairs over time... next video out in a week or so.. Appreciate the kind words 🙂👍🏻
Howzit Smeskii, my Nemo 2 came from the good folks at Flying Brick right here in Cape Town. Give the guys there a shout and tell hook you up. I’ve put the link here for you should you wish to get one for yourself 🙂 flyingbrick.co.za/product/cobrra-nemo-2-chain-oiler/
There's so much debate on whether to oil, wax, or just ignore it and hope for the best, that it’s enough to make your head spin. Personally, the idea of 'just leave it alone' baffles me. I’ve spent too much of my life obsessing over oil levels to suddenly stop caring now! So in this episode, I’m diving into the world of the Cobrra Nemo 2. My mission? To make oiling my chain so ridiculously easy that I'll never have to crawl around on my garage floor like a lost puppy again. 😁
I return the complement. Great video. I have 8 videos in backlog that still need to be edited. So busy with traveling and little time for vlogging and editing. Safe travels.
Thanks Wessel, hope you found it helpful in some way 🙂. I really like this tank bag, it ticks all the boxes for what it used for most. Cheers from Cape Town 👍
Remember the excitement and anticipation you had with your map laid out on the kitchen table, trying to imagine yourself riding along the roads shown on the paper? What will the journey bring? What memories will make it home? In this first short episode of the Turkana Safari Challenge, the bike gets her team sticker, the garage gets a spring clean and a rainy Sunday afternoon is suitably dispatched. Join us for the journey that's still yet to come. Mike @ LekkaRides
Howzit Mike. I have also signed up for the Turkana Safari Challenge and have already started to tick off some of the boxes. A fellow 'challenger' and I are planning a trip from Joburg down to Cape Town in February so that we can get to many of the more distant challenge locations and all those lekker mountain passes, since we have not one anywhere up here. I will be following your progress. Cheers, Bruce.
@@brucehep2823 Hey Bruce, that's very cool, look forward to seeing your pictures of success and you progress through the challenges. Now we just need it to stop raining here in the Cape and then we can get cracking too!. Ride Safe and enjoy the adventure 😀👍🏻
Very good review right to the point, thanks a lot. I have an old x-grip (which I was using for years and very happy with it), and new phones image stabilizers are said to be damaged by the vibration on handle bars of motorcycles. I was curious if this dampener actually does any better. Eventhough it is very difficult to know even reduced vibration is bad for these new fancy phones but thanks to you, now we know this product does some work.
Great to hear you found it helpful, it was lots of fun to go through the process of working out what the differences actually are, even if it was a fairly simple experiment. 😁.. Thanks and ride safe
Just received mine after watching your video, and .. the base is aluminium and without any way to tighten with a tool - how did you fasten yours? Thread glue and pliers?
Howzit. Yes that is exactly how I did mine. A little thread-lock and then a nice thick rag over the metal ball so the monkey-wrench didn't scratch the ball, and then just a little tweak to get it to 'bite'. That was it. Easy does it and has been absolutely fine ever since 👍🏻🙂. I hope that helps...
Hi, thanks for the videos . Will from PE. I have just bought Mitas E07 for my CB500X, what tyre pressue do you use for dirt roads? Doing the Swartberg pass in a few days, thanks appreciate the usefull info on your channel.
Hey Patricia, to be 100% honest I just make sure they are not flat 😁. I don't get sucked into all this ' it needs to be this that or the other pressure and torques settings' and whatnot, just get out there and ride 😀. Here's one of the Swartberg Pass from last year, you should have a blast. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TIjyp8KRPTE.html
If you have a new NX500 or the more classic CB500X, then this tank bag from Gioant Loop may very weel be just what you need. Super useful to load with all your gear, easy access when refueling and removing at the end of the day. Rain wont stop play either. Such a great buy that you will be able to move from one bike to the next due to it's adaptable design. The more I use this the more I like it 😁👍🏻 flyingbrick.co.za/product/giant-loop-tank-bag-fandango/
Hi Chris. Great to hear from you 😁. I get all my bits from flyingbrick.co.za/product-category/bike-model/honda/ in Cape Town. Have a chat with the friendly guys there and they’ll hook you up. The engine guard is made by Rockfox, distributed via Flying Brick. Also, if you have a look through my channel there are a few videos describing the add-ons in more detail. Hope you find them helpful 👍
These tyres have been fantastic so far. 10,000km (6,200miles) and still going strong. If anyone with a CB500X or NX500 is looking at some offroad options, these have been great so far for me. 👍🏻🙂🇿🇦
Howzit. I’m not 100% sure which part you mean. If you like send me a picture/video of the part you are worried about and I’ll compare it to what mine does. lekkarides@gmail.com 👍🙂
Hi thanks for your kind review 😀. I ordered one myself. How is the vibe safe holding up as I found only two reviews on the internet ... yours and one of a broken one ?
Great to hear from you... At this stage mine is still going lekka, no issues found as yet I must say. If I do see any deterioration, I'll make a follow-up review. Keep us posted with your progress too 🙂👍🏻
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. They are very standard Givvi/Kappa boxes, you should be able to get them at most good retailers. I get almost all my gear from Flying Brick in Cape Town 😁 flyingbrick.co.za/
Howzit Ivan, thanks for the comment. You can check out with the link what Ram Mount have, I believe there are a few standard size threads and you just need to work out which your bike has...👍🏻 www.rammount.co.za/tough-mirror
Thank you. I went to RAM and found the “tough mirror kit” punched in my bike info and then my credit card info and all is good. Thanks for the quick response to my question
I'm born and raised in NY state (upstate) and it sucks for many reasons- one being extreme road salt and corrosion, killing cars in 8+ years. I'm wondering how corrosion along the coast (in the Carolinas) compares to the massive deterioration we experience in upstate NY. Anyone have any idea/information?
Is this a manageable 1st bike? I'm over 6ft and heavy (COVID and WFH was not kind to the midline) so not sure if I should go to the 250-300cc class to learn, but the 650 Vstroms and KLR650 look a bit intimidating. Wondering if the 500 is the goldilocks zone for me. Also curious how much the bottom and side bike protection cost.
Hi Pieter. To be honest I’d be more inclined to learn on a much smaller bike to start with. Something like a 125cc that is easy and light and slow. Once you’ve been riding that a while then progress up to something a little bigger if you need to. The most fun is on small bikes 😁
@@lekkarides thanks, I've ridden 125cc Scooters plenty - got the license as a teen but then got a car and we sold the scooter. Now that I'm in my 30s I'm looking at real motorcycles, particularly ones that'll be great on light off-roading. A 125 now would definitely be too small, so my search started at a Kawasaki Versys X300 and I'm really liking what I see from the CB500X, looks to be more offroad capable - which is what I'll enjoy. I guess I'll need to test ride them to be sure what's going to be best. Thanks for the content, subbed for future updates.
@@pieterrossouw8596 Nice Pieter, sounds like you need to go give one a test and see how you get on. Your long legs will certainly help 🙂 The 500 is very nice offroad, easy to pick up if you drop it, super light on fuel, Honda reliability.. what's not to like.. Get out there and give one a go 👍🏻🙃... We're all awaiting your test ride feedback 🤣
There's no such thing as the perfect bike as we all need / want different things, and everything else is a balancing act of compromises. But after a year on the 500X, I struggle to imagine a better combination of compromise. More power would mean more weight and less agility. More tech would mean more to go wrong and a much higher price. For me keeping the weight down was important as I'm a small guy. I don't want to be lugging around a massive GS or Africa Twin. I also don't want something so tall I'm on my tiptoes even though I'm 5'10". It's like you said, the 500X ticks so many boxes and does so much competently. You'd think with it being so practical and typically Honda that it would be boring, yet I love every second on it. It's so flickable that I have a riot on it every time I go out.
Sounds like we are on the same page 😁. It really is a great bike. A true Swiss army knife of a ride. Enjoy your 500x and hope you get many more happy miles 🙂💪
Thanks, so glad you found it helpful. The racks came from a very great store in Cape Town, give them a shout and they will be able to help you 👍🏻 flyingbrick.co.za/
