I was one of Brent's first patients in Sioux Falls. He has helped me control sciatic nerve pain for the last two years. I suggested my wife, Pat, see him when she was referred to a pain management specialist. Nice guy; good doc; nice staff.
Dr. Rasmussen did a partial knee replacement for me several weeks ago. Had a VERY informative pre surgery consultation. Took the time to explain what he saw in my situation, the three choices I had and his best recommendation. Could not be happier with the outcome of my surgery, Dr. Rasmussen, His PA, and the rest of the OI staff!!
Brent Thurness was a Butt Kicking Football player and Dude! His Dad was an even better football coach!! His Mom was the best football coaches wife ever!!! Brent, keep getting your Ass to the Ball. Rock on Coe, Monmouth, Chadron State and the MEMORY of your Pops!!!
I am surprised at the extreme amount of pain during recovery. I read all the wonderful stories but this is a nightmare. You need to be on strong meds 24/7 or you can't even move.
Dr. Adler is also my doctor there. I recommend him to everyone. He has done all 3 of my surgeries and will do my knee replacement. Keep up the good work Dr. Adler! Orthopedic Institute, you guys rock. I always get the best care there.
Happy Retirement Dr Kalo! Thank you for all you've done to take care of my medical needs, being straightforward, and for your sense of humor. Best wishes always!
If you’re considering getting a spinal cord stimulator implanted, please read this: “Implanted Spinal Cord Stimulators for Pain Relief: Illustrating the FDA’s Dangerously Lax Oversight of High-Risk Implantable Medical Devices” Public Citizen, June 2020 Michael A. The procedure is NOT minimally invasive, no matter what they say; B. The devices are junk that burn, shock, and produce very serious infections and rejections from body. From 2004-2019 almost 1,000 people have died from associated effects of spinal cord stimulator surgery; C. Hundreds of people are paraplegic because the leads are placed in the extremely delicate epidural space; and while surgical techniques are improving, the surgeons haven’t figured out exactly why some people are still made paraplegic by the device and the surgery; D. Almost half of participants need re-operation from “lead migration”, shifting leads and dural puncture. Hubby is a new patient with you all and he and I LOVE LOVE this video! It puts your mind at ease knowing you have the BEST staff with a great sense of humor! LOL! Very cool.
This is Kerwyn Lykken and please tell Dr. Adler that when he replaced my knees, it was a great success. I told him I needed to ski again, play fastpitch again, curl again, and I guess farm again. Well I have did all four things. Farming first, fastpich second, then curling, and this year I went skiing. I have no problems and I am thankful for him and Scott and nurses. Paul Kreber helped with therapy. I can't wait to show this video to John Lykken so he can enjoy too. Than you to everyone at OI, they were all so good.
This is absolutely the most fun, creative video I've seen. Your physicians and their teams enthusiastically executed their parts...and adding Dr. Carlson at the end was brilliant! And, as a Stampede player parent, I know how much fun the boys had in helping create this video. Way to go Orthopedic Institute!
Love Orthopedic Institute’s holiday video-so creative and funny-great use of music lyrics and the hockey team mascot! 🤣⛸🏒 I’m biased, but my favorite was the PT department at the 5:00 minute mark. 🤩🕺Go Shannon-way to move it, move it! 😉
What does a vibrant, connected team look like? Watch this! I am so honored to be part of the team at Orthopedic Institute. Our team never stops amazing me with their commitment, creativity and compassion. The joy they spread helps our patients every day. Thank you!
Freedom does not come without a price. We may sometimes take for granted the many liberties we enjoy in America, but they have all been earned through the ultimate sacrifice paid by so many members of our armed forces and those that make sacrifices everyday to improve the lives of others around them and future generations.
Hey folks, good afternoon. I am not currently vaccinated. In the past 15 years I have had horrific side effects to all sorts of medications - from Tylenol, Ambien, Amitriptyline and Prednisone (the list is vast - way too many to list here. Let's just go with every drug causes me to have adverse reactions). The side effects have ranged from sexual side effects, numbness, being unable to breathe, rising CPK levels, fatigue, dizziness, and nightmarish amounts of pain until the drug could be stopped (among many many others). I want to make the right decision but I am being forced to make a choice now, when I would rather wait. My employer is going to require us to be vaccinated, or have a medical exemption from doing so. I am not against getting vaccinated - I receive the Flu shot every year. I feel a bit terrible for a day or two after wards but I think it's worth the risk. For these COVID ones though... I'm not sure. I know the odds of side effects from the vaccines are low, but I win the side effect lottery every time. My other doctors were also hesitant to prescribe me medications after seeing how my body negatively reacts to drugs, and my eventual growing hesitation to taking any new drug - my body seems to hate them. I want to do the right thing. While every fiber of my being is screaming do not get vaccinated with what's available based on what's happened to me in the past, I may be biased against drugs due to my prior experiences. I am fully vaccinated against various diseases, and I get boosters every few years. Maybe I can handle the current vaccines but I am so, so scared of potential side effects because there's no way to stop taking a vaccine. Some of the side effects I have had are not listed on any bottle or list (Lyrica gave me tear inducing, screaming head pain like nothing I have ever experienced, and I get migraine headaches). To further complicate matters I have numerous problems with me. Blood clotting problems (I am on warfarin forever), Crohn's disease, and other health issues too (heart problems among them). I realize no one wants COVID. I fully mask up when I go out. I stay away from everyone. I avoid all crowds and do not travel. I am able to work from home. I mention all of this because I want to get across that I am taking this seriously, as I do all health related things. I just... God I am so scared that my body will hate these vaccines and leave me crippled or in agonizing pain without relief, or my body will react to them in some awful way due to other health problems. I would like to wait until Novavax is out as I have read there are no serious side effects with that particular vaccine but I do not know if my employment will allow me to wait that long. Anyway - don't feel obligated to respond good folks I just need to vent my frustration over this. Thank you for this vid - it at least gives me hope that people can talk about the concerns others have without resorting to name calling and politics.
