This is a beautiful full garden with so many ideas! I loved it. Are you able to tell me the plant name in a hedged circle surrounding the sculpture in the backyard at 4.24 mins approx.? I thought it may be a variegated Abelia?? Thank you for sharing this wonderful place!
thanks for the video nice garden! - just suggestions pls balance the audio, the music too loud compared to the speaking and if the hosts can slow down the speed of talking
@@user-vy8vm5kj7t thanks for your feedback. This was my first video ever - I’ve fixed the audio and voice balance on the other videos 👌🏼 hope you enjoy them
Living in the sub tropics l have found that beds need to be monitored and managed (as any keen gardener would do!)…otherwise they can become waterlogged…generally most plants appreciate the water being made so readily available…and our celery loves it!.,.👏👏👏
Oh yes I can imagine it could become a BIG issue for you especially with high summer rainfalls and humidity. Might also be worth planting at least 1 water hungry crop per bed to help drink up the water if needed? Celery, cress, Vietnamese mint, mint, small tropical fruiting tree or shrub etc.
Oh thank you! I could have sold this hoodie out if I knew where it was from haha :-) It was second hand from a friend, but she got it from a fancy department store in London. Sorry! Not much help! I've got 1 more BTGG video to edit and then there will be a dry spell as I can't get any people to let me film in their gardens over winter :-( Too wet, too muddy and people just don't love the look of their gardens so much in winter I guess. Lots lined up for Sept & October though.
I know it looked UNDER the tree, but it really wasn't under the branches. More beside the tree. The owners pruned it back actually too since shooting, so that will have reduced it's canopy span a bit :-)
Hi there! I have 0 knowledge in gardening but brought 2 beautiful blueberry bushes today. I need to up-pot them, but not sure which soil should I use. Can you help me a bit? Is it enough to mix potting soil and acidic soil mix in a pot, then mulching them?
Hey! If you’ve got enough potting mix for acid loving plants then just use it solo. If not then mixing in with regular potting mix will also be fine. You can always top up with acid loving potting mix down the track 👌
A really wonderful use of foliage colour and texture that will persist throughout the year in the lower shrubs and bushes, even when the upper canopy is gone. So many shades of green must make the whole garden feel cool and inviting in the summer too, before the autumn colours come out. I always think including plants with interesting little flowers you have to look for in secret places adds to the magical, otherworldly feel of a garden and inspires imagination and curiosity in young kids and not-so-young kids alike. A really beautiful garden!
Thanks Chloe. I'd really like some suggestions for taller plants to screen the fence than succulents and that will cope with competition from a huge oak over the back fence (for a corner which gets hit with late afternoon western sun in summer - until a crepe myrtle grows enough to shade it)? And a creeper maybe?
All great advice for planting in dry shade! I can't compete with the elm sucker roots in my dry-shade area, so I keep everything in pots and hanging baskets, except some wormwood which forms an evergreen windbreak and seems to be able to survive within the elm's domain.
Love every episode you share. Thank you to the BTDT team and all the beautiful gardens and their owners for inspiring us to get out in our own gardens to dream and imagine future pjects ❤
And I have every single one of these shade types in my garden, as well as full sun. They can all be tricky, but hoards of hungry possums compound the problem every time! Looking forward to helpful tips!
@@BeanThereDugThat and in the absence of predators, they simply reproduce every time I put in a new garden to match the new food supply. I have a whole hanging garden of bromeliads I've never seen flower, thanks to the brushtails. I don't even know what colour they are!
I feel I've watched a thousand garden tours and I can honestly say this garden has thrilled and inspired me like no other. This is the cottage garden twist I've been searching for as I create my own woodland cottage garden. Absolutely breathtaking!! Thank you for this inspirational tour.
