I think she brings up a really good point. Most Trans girls I've met who are living fully as a woman and recognized as a woman speak with a much more feminine pitch. I felt like that had Rebecca spoke in her normal feminine pitch, her character would have been far more accepted.
Great tips! But oh is this going to take so much practice XD I have always had a higher voice than I would like. So chipper and chirpy XD Not a problem I don't have to hear it :p But when practicing voicing a make character it has me in tears (of laughter)
Absolutely ruined the immersion of the scene. I know it’s a fantasy world and a fictional history but I don’t think there were many transgenders in the 1800s.
when i try to do this i feel like i’m not breathing properly and i lose my breath half way through the sentence how do i practice this without that issue
Sorry you need to remove the raspiness by dropping your voice down to your basement, which is 1/2 inch below your belly button. Then bring that voice up from there out of your mouth.
This is exactly what I’m struggling with. I can’t get my voice to a reasonable pitch without straining or cracking. I’m glad to know the answer is incrementally feeling it out, that’s very simple
ME TOO... my pitch caps out at a male-ish level. VERY frustrating especially when i have resonance down. i pass as a girl in voice, but i pass as a "wonky" girl in my voice. so my voice still has something OFF. i believe pitch is one of them. like, people pick up that i sound like a girl but just other aspects of my voice are still way off enough that people have still made fun of me for still sounding somewhat "manly". it really depends on the day as my consistency is trash.
Yea this immediately got me to sound more different than I had with other methods. Overshooting the target on whatever voice you desire means that you aren’t just barely reaching for that voice, you’ve been all around it. Nice quick vid!
Right... that's why voice actors exist and why smoking too much makes your voice gravely or how male puberty makes voices way deeper among 1000 other examples of how that's completely false. Like bruh she's literally changing her voice in the video.
Oh hell yeah! Best guidance for this era. And ive seen some people doing the “use hand to physically press it up” ??! That’s badddd … as a person with a particular flavor of dysphonia (not stemmed from this) i feel in my own throat some really chunky notches, and that’s just when changing registers (singing) and not releasing any tension. I can very easily imagine damaging hyoid bone/process/cartilage if i even just swallowed at the wrong time. Baddddd. (Also: instant “tell”, loss of vocal continuity and kind of accentuates the larynx with movement??? idk peeps)
I have a question. When I first learned how to raise my larynx I learned with the swallow and hold technique briefly before moving onto other techniques from Trans Voice Lesson, but I'm worried that since I started out learning with the swallow technique its interconnected with my raising of the larynx. Do you have any suggestions on how to relearn raising my larynx without getting the swallow technique engrained into it?
