I don’t know if I got a Fishing Canada episode, but I think one of the big contributions of the zebra muscles as they cleaned up the St. Lawrence river. I’m not sure if that’s true you guys would know about it. Gobies now one of the leading forage fish for the smallmouth bass. Aren’t they? All said I agree with the new ballast regulations.

I’ve been to many lodges and choose to bring my own boat cook my own meals but never get a guide. It’s not that I don’t want one because they’re priceless on a new lake. It all comes down to cost. The price of the lodge that I drive too is more expensive than an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean. Just remember most of us can barely afford the trip never mind the perks.

They almost wiped out the bass fishery down to 5000 fish years ago and now they want to do it again and line their pockets with the profits is one part of the problem. The other part is pandering to the deep pockets of the Atlantic Salmon Federation who blame Stripers for everything even though when the fish populations were low the Salmon still had no decent resurgence numbers so what was the scapegoat in those days? Weather, water temperature, spraying chemicals on woodlands or offshore fishing? Every angler in NB would be overjoyed to have a strong resurgence of Salmon in our rivers but the reality is they have thrown millions of dollars in government grants for studies and tagging programs for decades with no real results on improving numbers so why are they allowing this to happen? Money and Liberal votes to the federal government.

You don't need minnows. A piece of crawler on jig is fine. Or up there a cig butt on a jighead will work

I've always loved Angelo 👍 no bs and real talk from a "real" person. This mess is complex series of gambles and controversies so lets just hope we all don't lose something we've grown to love! They want numbers?? I think I could sit down and come up with some rough numbers of anglers-x-fish retention-x-cr mortality ect.. for our tiny province which has been deep in debate on the subject for a few years now. Striper love vs Striper hate.

Great video and production work!! I experienced the same ankle-biter black fly swarm in the same time period as you guys--last summer, June 20-26, temps over 90 the first day, followed by a huge storm. The next day, the biting flies were all over us in the heat/humidity. I have been on over 30 fly-ins, but this trip produced the worst biting fly conditions I have ever seen. Onepine Lake, NW Ontario, 190 air miles N from Nestor Falls. I did catch a 31 inch walleye over 11 pounds on this trip, though, so all I remember are the good things! There is nothing like a week in NW Ontario!!

Sadly there are many local anglers (poachers) that will keep every striped bass they catch. And a huge misconception that these bass will destroy the commercial lobster fishery which is experience record high catches by the way. We killed off almost all the cod, seriously hurt the Atlantic Mackerel, when does it stop?

95% smolt mortality of smolts in Miramichi estuary. Historically 30%. Bass the cause according to predator tags. Current bass numbers put Miramichi salmon populations on an extirpation trajectory.

I can assure you, the anglers new to the striped bass sport is growing very fast! Which puts more pressure on the species before these new regulations even came into effect. I do not disagree with a licensure.

The commercial fishery are blaming the bass for everything from lobster to smelt and silversides when the real reason is overfishing. That is something they find it hard to admit.
