I use that first knot a lot. Particularly when night fishing a river for sea trout as it’s easy to do by feel when tying a small treble on behind a tube fly so protecting your night vision & not spooking the fish in the pool. It works really well with 10-15lbs fluorocarbon mono which is stiffer than nylon - but I prefer to moisten it as it helps it bed down tighter. But it fie it around my left index finger pointing down to the hook rather than my thumb sticking up from it as it’s a bit safer in the dark with a size 14 treble hook which I don’t want to have the points against my flesh. It is also great for heavy nylon & fluorocarbon mono for conger traces or rubbing lengths on shark & tope traces, & can be easily made up on the boat without having to muck about with crimps etc.

I will go to lofoten for Easter, can you tell me the exact location where you caught this halibut and what advice on bait and fishing method for fishing halibut?
Exciting to see this excellent Mexican fly fishing. I fished in Acension Bay in 2011 and 2012. ..would love to go back... long trip from across the Atlantic ..but I can keep wishing..and looking through the fly boxes I still have Tight lines and yes to another Margarita Simon Artley Manchester UK
