People are reporting these condos are falling apart. I guess it's a great thing Hazel park didn't interfere to make sure they were built correctly! All built very quickly, thanks to Hazel Park looking the other way! Thanks Eddie!
NEZ - if you didn't know, is tax abatements for these condos. So all the time our City Manager cries that people in Hazel Park are not paying their fair share, he's handing out property tax abatements to these properties so they pay less in taxes than other residents. It makes sense you need some incentive, because these condos are severely over-priced and I can understand why the City keeps posting videos to try and sell them.
The Road Diet is stupid. Living in the area of HP near the current "road diet" area on John R, you get stuck in your neighborhood trying to get out. You reduce 2 lanes to 1 and you get severe congestion. You can wait forever at times to simply drive out of your neighborhood. Reducing John R around 9 mile and further north will be a NIGHTMARE. As it is, traffic gets congested with 2 lanes. You can wait in the Kroger parking lot exit for awhile to get out at times. This will make entering/exiting the post office, city hall, Kroger, CVS and McDonalds etc a NIGHTMARE. What point does it serve exactly to reduce lanes?? None. I see no advantage on the area of John R with this nonsense. It just increased congestion.
"SMORSA was overwhelming approved" - 600 voters out of 16,000 voters passing SMORSA was hardly "overwhelming". In typical fashion, HP voters didn't show up, probably because the election was very quietly represented, and the actual vote happened in the middle of the summer outside of any other major election. Few people outside of the 600 who voted for it, even knew there was an election.
Why are they called houses when they are condos? Priced at $289K. These probably would have been more exciting if they had been built off of John R. It will be interesting if they sell.

King Edward, who makes $430,000 a year, wants more of your money! If he can't raise your property taxes, he's going to charge you a Pension Assessment on your tax bill! He's already pulling in millions with the current Street Light Assessment Slush Fund that appears on your bill. So keep an eye on your tax bill, because it may go up $1000s!!! King Edward refuses to tax those huge buildings on Dequindre and 10 mile. They don't pay the Street Light slush fund. The city and county paid millions of dollars to these businesses. And they have tax abatements. Gee, I wonder why? What's the point of having these businesses if they don't pay taxes??? One business stores dangerous lithium. Another business is an Amazon warehouse, causing congestion in local neighborhoods with vans clogging the streets to get into the warehouse. So our police and fire dept protect these businesses, while they pay little to no taxes!!

Yeah, it was total BS that the council appointed a member without an election before. No council person should be designated outside of an election by the people of Hazel Park.
But then again, the City Manager should be an elected official as well as he has more power than anyone else. Even the mayor. I can't help but think the MAFIA that has run HP for so long made sure the HP gov't wouldn't be subject to the will of the people by making the city manager an appointed position. The most powerful person in HP gov't is accountable to no one.
