My channel is for students of sociology. Here you'll find the basics of some primary sociological theory, terms and concepts. My videos are brief, and are aimed at advanced high school and lower level college sociology courses. Thus, they are not intended to provide in-depth analysis or advanced details; rather, they are intended to break down some of the ideas that you'll learn in sociology classes so that they are easier to grasp--once you've got the basics down, as you continue to study, the rest will fall into place.
I appreciate this lecture on Parsons' AGIL scheme. Dr Maeshall is a skillful lecturer. Listening to this lecture helped me gain some understanding of this part of Parsons' theory of how a social system works if it is working well.
This is so helpful! Very easy to follow and helped me to understand without me needing to read Goffmans whole book of The Interaction Order. Thank youuu
Perhaps you can help me answer a question I’ve been struggling with - why is it that revolutions, mostly (all?) led by the power disenfranchised never really seemed to have succeed by overturning the ‘power elite’ who always seem to rise to the top again and return back to power, perhaps in a different form, but to power once again nevertheless…
“Accelerate the contradictions! Starve the people so that they awaken to their true nature!” The attempt to use the dialect to change the course of history has led to more mass-atrocities than anything else that i’ve ever heard of.
