I played oboe for this many years ago with the Boulder Concert Band (Colorado). Of course it was fun to play *only* Double Reeds in the Simply Grand Minuet. This is truly for an AWFUL lot of winds and percussion! 😅
Percussionist here. I've spent a lot of time with a baton directing the band every once in a while when the director is away. I'm a freshman though so the directors don't fully know about me and my skill level. Today we had a senior flutist direct while the director was out, very inexperienced (keep in mind they are not in the freshman concert band so don't know about this piece). God bless his soul, I was in the back losing it on the floor laughing while this kid tried to fix the clarinet solos at the beginning. Trumpets almost rioted.

I prefer a faster version, the violin’s jumps are not enough when it’s the melody, cello was too loud when it’s the beat change. Viola could be louder. And at the last part, cello’s could jump more.
This sounds like a dream. I wish I could have an art chat with Terry Berlier. I have so many questions about kinetic sculptures, sound sculptures, and experimental media. Until then, I'm finishing my BFA and applying to Stanford, where Terry Berlier teaches.

When I was producing the show, I knew asking Blane if he'd like to play w/ Jason, was the right thing to do. I remember watching this unfold from the balcony of the Fillmore arm and arms with my brothers, watching... Crying, feeling and sensing the magic that was happening right in front of my eyes... God works in mysterious ways... Jason said after this song, "This is one of the most moving moments that he ever had on stage". And then dedicated his next hit song, "Have it all" to Blane. Wow!
