Hello, my name is Hans George Campbell. Welcome to my channel Desirable Matchbox. Here I show you and talk about Matchbox vehicles from the Lesney years, the International years, the Tyco years, and the Mattel years. You will also find all of the Matchbox Catalogs, scanned in full 1080p HD resolution, as well as other reference material. This channel is best viewed in Dark Theme Mode. Be sure to visit my sister channel - Desirable Hot Wheels.
Thanks for unpacking and staging the cars. Good to see all sides. It's a shame that only 2 of the cars of a P.C. have doors or hoods that can be opened.
Good job. Thank you for the great video. The idea with the turntable (like a carousel) is also a fantastic idea to present the cars. However, I would like to see more shows with older cars, when Matchbox was really Matchbox. Childhood memories come back.
Wow, I had a few examples of this series (3,4,12,18,32,63) still got them in the loft ! (no boxes though) Most of mine were mid 70s like the superfast Countach (no 27) The motorway I had in the uk, was a yellow plastic figure of eight track with two slots in the track , each with a long coil spring loop inside, which was driven inside the slot by a stationary motor with a hand controller. You had to attach a small plastic peg to the bottom of your cars using an adhesive patch, the peg engaged with the spring in the slot, and the cars were dragged along the racetrack as if they were motorised, but cheaper !
Fortunately, I still have all mine. I was born in 1964 so my Mom started buying them for me around 1968. I loved when they came out with the "rollermatics" series as I thought it was fairly ingenious. Collected for quite a while (until about 1981 or so) but I still pick up one every now and then. Interestingly enough, the 79-80 catalogue is ONE I do not have.
I just remember having these and then getting the cars the catalogues are long gone but not the cars I still have them it just takes me back to a time when I was a kid thanks for sharing these with us
The day I got this catalog was the day I realized that the USA line and the "Rest of the World (RoW)" line had split at some point, with several models carrying different numbers from one to the other and other models actually being exclusive to one market or the other. A Cable Truck at 26? A Citroen 15CV at 44? Luckily I found a dealer in Massachusetts who carried these.
That Rover 3500 shown on page 13 of the "new models" section never did show up in stores here in the USA (nor did its later police version) and I always thought it had just gotten cancelled. It wasn't until 1994 or so that I realized it WAS released but in the RoW market only and not the USA. The De Tomaso Pantera kept the #8 slot in the lineup for a few more years here in "The Colonies."
When I was a kid, I probably spent more time looking at the "1-75 series changes" pages as I did looking at the current year's range. In my mind I tried imagining what the older models looked like and it wasn't until Charlie Mack did his series of books that I knew for sure.
I've just found a #39 clipper, in Australia. Its a little damaged, the joystick has been spun around so many times as if someone tried to remove it and its missing an exhaust pipe, but the paintwork is still in great shape for it being 50 years old.
Enjoyed you posting this, thank you! From 2:02-2:10 there are some catalog errors that escaped the Matchbox editors: (1) #53 Mercedes-Benz 220 shown was not issued in 1968, issued about 1963, (2) #55 in 1968 should be Mercury Park LANE police car, (3) #57 Chevrolet Impala (replica of a 1959 Impala in two-tone blue) was issued much earlier than 1966 by three, or four years. by 1982, Matchbox by then had purged their unrealistic/fantasy cars from their lineup that they stupidly, (imo) started incorporating into the 1-75 series in 1970, apparently to copy their new competitors from Hotwheels, and Johnny Lightning. They should have (imo), by this time, 1982-83,updated their models of yesteryear making models of 1950's, and 1960's cars, imo, they would had broadened the appeal to their audience. Thanks again for posting!

I remember receiving Matchbox toys as gifts from my grandparents. I've see many of these toys as a kid in other friends' houses. Thank you very much for putting up this catalogue.
Man, thank you so much for uploading this, brought back some wonderful memories! Here in the UK, Matchbox cars and model kits were absolutely huge; some of their kits actually rivalled Airfix for their quality. Cheers mate…
