Both officers should have been charged with a crime. The other officer assisted him in his violent arrest. Because she didn’t give him her last name and he didn’t like that. I believe he was terminated but both officers should have been terminated and charged. Sadly this cop is probably working in the next town
My son and I were part of this law suit. Can't believe it's been 24 years! Was a stressful time. Had to go to go to school with my son to protect him since everyone was so angry with me. Wanted to protect him from any possible verbal abuse. He was in 5th grade at the time.
Honestly why can't there just be a single changing room/shower for people like this? That way they don't get harassed, and don't make anyone else uncomfortable either. Problem solved.
Prof Wolff makes very good points. However, I argue that it's not capitalism that is at fault, rather it's the excesses of it. So replacing capitalism with socialism is the not the solution. It did not work for the soviets. The solution is a mix of both and to prevent the excesses of either one.
It was working pretty well until the illegal dissolution of the URSS. Do not forget that socialism took a pre-industrial kingdom to a military superpower that destroyed the nazis in 20 years. Put a lifeform on space before the US did in 40 years. If any, look at how those post-socialist countries are faring today, under capitalism.

Prof. Wolff is doing pretty well in the system he is so critical about... 🤷♂️ In socialist system Mr. Wolff for his work would be given 2 bedroom apartment and a compact car with a 20 years loan to pay it off... I know it first hand growing up in such system. I can guarantee that in less than a year he would beg to comeback to the "horrible" capitalism.
It's fascinating how the collective descriptions of nations can make a narrative: Germany did this, Greece did that, the US does another thing, the people were angry, the people said no more, etc. This collectivization of morality hides the facts of the Wolff's actual proposition for human action: "I, the Wolff, seek to convince as many as I can to vote so that a small number of people are forced to do the following: Go out into the world and threaten with violence anyone who works in a way that I don't like, trades in a way that I don't like, earns more than I do, or tries to create things that I don't preemptively approve of." When it comes down to individual morality, the Wolff tells lies about the mechanics of economic systems. The Wolff asks us all to be coercive of others. The Wolff asks people in power to use violence to outlaw most trade. The Wolff is proud to finally be noticed. When your collective morality sounds good, but you need immorality at each stage of the system for the "greater good", check your premises. The ends do NOT justify the means.
I think Capitalism is good if under control of biger system of socialism. They work together and government's jobs is provide free education and free health care and some other social programs for crime issues, immigration issues on legal and illegal solutions, economic study, science research and development, climate change, etc... Government audit corp not private CPA work for corp to audit them. Put regulation in place and government media not own by corp. People can form community ctr to deal with mental issue and financial issues of individuals. There are so many ideas people can create and allow to suggest. Private sport enterprises need to change and focus on health and team work not for big profits. People in general should have freedom of speech and basic rights. Government shows higher morals and stands and put religion separate from government in charge. Limited term serving political officers. Provide more justice system and more judges. Lumit the supreme court judges term services. Stocks market need a major reform and not let big corp. to hostile take over small companies. Whistleblower should be reward as a hiro not punished. Regulate AI developments to prevent misinformation and few media controls. Allow creative minds and build more infrastructures and look out the best interest of all the people live here. Raise the higher standards and higher self esteems. Get ride of welfare programs unless disable people and mental illness people. There are so many things we can make changes if we care about all of us and this country wellbeings. Teaching better family value and high morality society.
The rich people before the taxes, they can write off on their purchase of investments in buying more business or properties amount to against their earning amount. In this way, they end up paying no taxes. This is the reason, they get more richer and own more equities and properties. However, the regular workers do not have such write off benefits on taxes. Their taxes automatically take off before their get their pay checks. Plus, rich people try to buy off politicians to get more tax write off tax laws. They can pay and hire their own tax audits and hide their earnings. They also put away earning to off shores to avoid taxes. They cook their accounting books. Even if they get caught, they don't get punished unlike regular workers would be in jail and pay heavy fines. So the middle class and regular workers are the one paying all the heavy taxes not the rich people.
