That's awful :/ hate it when it becomes available to the public before the loyal backers receive there copies. Jason has a copy of theme park mania that hasn't been fulfilled, yet it's also for sale at essen spiel.
If it helps, it's only retail editions of Rebirth available at Essen (& pickup of KS edition as advertised). I understand the frustration but publishers would be mad to not sell at the biggest game show in the world
Ah for the cost of a plane ticket to Germany, I could have saved myself the wait and postage costs! Joking aside I understand that publishers want to sell their new games at Essen and other conventions. Hamlet by the Lake is running 3 months late, so that doesn’t help. Seeing the game you backed (and paid for) for sale years/months before you have the same game delivered to your door leaves a bad taste; Spirit Island’s latest expansion was in store 9 months before backers in the UK had their copies due to VAT and shipping issues. It does all feed into whether it is worth backing some kickstarter projects or whether it is better to just skip the shiny bits and buy the retail version.
@@jenniferEdwards-cox I can't argue with that, the crowdfunding timelines can get really bad (particularly for us in the UK). Some publishers go out of their way to ensure backers always get theirs first, others aren't so careful. I mostly go retail for that reason, though it is nice to help get a smaller game created
@@meepleminded9508 I was working at the Catalyst booth for most of the weekend, so it would have been a case of when rather than if. I took a break early on Sunday to actually see the rest of the halls.
We hear Saturday was heaving ! Love to hear more about Bounty Hunters, great to hear ypu got to play so much too. Safe travels home, good luck getting the games on the train
Saturday was indeed absolutely heaving. Luckily as we got to the games hall early ISH we were sorted for the day lol I believe it was another record breaking year for them this year. Bounty hunters was actually pretty fun and no doubt we will do a podcast or video about it soon ;)
Yay! Thanks, guys! Nice to see Stop Drop & roll Games get a flyby! Any TTRPGers there should check out his new game 'Why We Fight' - Booth 1-369. Wish I could be there!
O that's great :) we hope you had a fantastic time. We have not long got back home and now the unpacking begins :) Did you get any new games? How did you find the expo?
I really enjoyed it. Glad I went Friday and Saturday as Saturday was crazy and managed to get plenty of games/demos in which was really good fun. Sold 3 games and bought about seven 🙈 Hope you had a great time. A few weeks of enjoying the games then start planning for next year lol
That's great to hear :) and a nice trade in and out of games. Saturday was crazy as always but I'm told there was yet another record breaking year for UKge so it's no surprise it was mega busy. Sunday was nice and laid back though most stands had very little left.
The date is never really taken into account when we pick the game, just so happens it is the game we played most the past few weeks. Lucky it wasn't released on the 11th really.
I agree that there are no real negatives in this game. I love all modules so I wouldn't have left them out from the base game (to lower the price) as suggested.
Hey Max, thanks for your comments. I mean the fact the modules are included is pretty cool. The only reason I (Jason) mentioned I'd maybe of not included them is purely and simply on a finance front. With people wanting to spend less on their games it just provides that option, conversely I never really mentioned on recording but the business side of my brain also says the company would likely make more money this way as no doubt they would actually sell the modules for more money haha .
I'm interested to see how the mechanics of the board game function. Unfortunately, for me I'm not really a fan of the theme of the board game. In general, climate awareness/climate change or "saving the planet" themed games are a turn off for me, however, if the mechanics are fun and keep me engaged I'll definitely be interested. Looking forward to the follow up vid!
Understandable - though it might peak your interest to know that 50% of profits from this game will be going to 6 organisations (one for each sector within the game) who are making real every day change to our own world. We're not cashing in on a popular topic, we genuinely wish to educate and make a change with this game :) Whilst also having fun, of course!
Can't wait to see your review Jason, it's so great to hear you so excited for it! It always breaks my brain a little to see someone unpacking something that was once just an imagining in my head...
Will get it done asap but as always I demand I play three full games before smashing the hammer of judgement down on a game haha But visually great start :)
Awesome! I remember the day Laurie explained the idea for Earth Rising to me and I just sat there blown away at how he'd concocted the idea for such an in depth game within hours of watching the 2040 film - a large inspiration for him. It's incredibly cool to see the prototype getting out there now and can't wait for the Kickstarter campaign :D
