Such wonderful Concertina solos you always bring us Mike, and yet here is another charming example. Thank you for uploading this gem. You must be the "Concertina King" on all of YT by now. :-) Craig
Just so amazing how a Concertina can play the early music and be such a success. I dare say a modern day Piano could never equal what your little Wheatstone is capable of. As always, your Concertina solos are such a delight to listen to. Happy 4th! :-) Craig
Great selection Mike and shows how wonderfully versatile this little instrument is. Music dating from the Reconnaissance Period of Music History? Now really, who would have ever believed or thought it was even possible to pull something off like this so beautifully. Craig
How wonderful to hear this great Spiritual played this way. Always great hearing you Mike, and thank you a million times over for the comment above. All the best - Craig
I use fish glue for everything except the end papers. The cards are made of cotton rag board. I use thinner material now, though. The leather is either sheep or goat, whatever I find that is thin and supple.
Wonderful. Those Old Irish Folk Melodies are always to please. (Ever notice how often the time meter is in 6/8 time?) A sure fire winner all so often. Craig
@@MichaelPierceall You are entirely welcome. Yes, a "Clock Project Cuckoo Clock" will be coming my way next week. Nothing like taking one of these old hopeless wreaks in and giving it a brand new life. Fun! :-)
Beautiful Mike. Just so beautiful is that Petite instrument. Very calming to listen too. Always so amazing is that the expression and wide range of dynamics possible. I sure wish I knew how to play as you do. Craig
Always wonderful hearing you play and today is such a great day to play that very famous tune. Bravo Maestro! Craig ps: Did you see the "Hinners" up for grabs? I am hoping things will work out. :-)
Lovely interpretation. Can I ask you do you buy second hand concertina for restoration purposes? I got a Wheatstone english concertina in an unplayable condition that I would like to sell since I can’t afford to repair it.
Such a wonderful Lyric interpretation of a Waltz played on an instrument that despite its size, has capabilities of producing nuances ever so subtle and unique to all other musical instruments. Wow, is that Concertina ever in such great tune too. Beautiful! Craig
Yes, it is a great sounding instrument. To find one that with reeds that haven't been damaged in some way is fortunate. Thanks for the comment, Craig. Hope you are doing well.
How wonderful to have just woken up, turned on the Chromebook and started the day after hearing such a great solo. Wow, what a fabulous technique you have Mike. All kinds of feeling when you play. *Wonderful!* Craig
So Mike, is 'Winter' a larger work still in progess and this praeludium just the beginning? If so then I am really looking forward to the complete work. Sounds wonderful.
Wow Mike. You are so terrific playing that Wheatstone. Beautiful tone along with all the subtle dynamics and expression = success unbelievable! The music was extremely haunting and lovely too. So nice to have just opened this Chromebook and found notice that you had uploaded a new video. Craig
Musique3579 Thanks, Craig. That particular instrument has a great set of reeds. When I acquired it, it had been idle for some time, so it was gratifying to be able to put it back into use.
What a neat piece. The effects you get out of that instrument are amazing. The tremolo comes across more like a vibrato actually. You sure know how to bring that Concertina to life. Bravo! Craig
Beautiful, Mike, just beautiful. I live in Dundas, Ontario, not the same Dundas I know, so I am going to have to try to learn this tune and your beautiful, clear version is where I must begin.
Delightful to hear this song again. I remember hearing it so often when still only a kid, and thankful before we had Black Friday events. OMG, where I live it has been declared Black Friday for the last 5 days. I don't attend any of them however, but I WOULD attend 5 days straight of hearing you perform pieces on Concertinas. Craig
Wow. Does that particular Concertina ever handle that piece beautifully. Loved it! You are REALLY talented Mike. Thank you for uploading yet another fantastic musical video of an instrument seldom heard, and probably seldom played as well as you can play it. Craig
Just so nice Mike. Leroy Anderson is one composer who wrote some of the neatest and catchiest tunes ever. I remember him well. (We both were living in CT.) Apparently he had and owned his very own publishing company.
Hi, Craig. I'm just getting around to replying to comments. Leroy Anderson was very unique and had a whimsical style that seems to stand alone. I didn't know he lived in CT. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the nice words.
Always a pleasure Mike. Yes, Anderson lived in CT. and actually owned his own Music Publishing Company..........for his music. Surprisingly, he was also a Harvard Graduate I recently learned. Everybody seemed to like his music and I can well see why. And now for some trivia: Margret Hamilton (Wicked Witch of the West) lived in a rest home only 10 miles away. She always liked visitors and little kids were scared out of their wits! LOL Craig
