Don't know if Chomsky ever spoke much about socialism in East Germany. The German Democratic Republic (GDR) was arguably the most advanced socialist state until its annexation by the Federal Republic of Germany following the end of the Berlin Wall. Women in the GDR had more status, social equality and rights than their sisters in West Germany. The people of GDR were simply absorbed into greater Germany along with the country's significant industrial and commercial assets. Not exactly a democratic or liberal act by a reunified Germany.

You got to move beyond black and white, there is more to it then just what the media tells you to say. People label Putin as a mass murder, but if his actions were so bad and his people were so against it. Why haven't they done anything? Why didn't we in the Vietnam war, or Iraq, Hawaii? What about Nazi Germany? The list goes on and on. Things aren't so one way or another. I think Putin is doing what he thinks is right for his country, same as ours does. @@lewisjbh what I can say is that Biden has not given any reason to doubt his morality. Furthermore, he appears to be more empathetic than the average person. As for his lucidity, he has overseen a strong economic recovery, driven some strong bipartisan infrastructure legislation, and driven a strong border security legislation with bipartisan support in the Senate that the MAGA Republicans in the House did not put up for vote. That’s just a small sample of all his accomplishments during the 3 years of his Presidency. If that means to you that he’s not lucid, be it. Personally, I’ll take some more of the same, for the next four years, thank you.
