I’m glad that I don’t live in a cookie cutter community in other words in a bedroom community. I’m glad that I live in a rural area spread apart and unaffected by noise.
I liked this video before watching and I'm a Ford man. I got a stupid duty f 2 fitty. But I absolutely hate HOA s. The dumbest idea ever. Why when housing is so expensive would anyone pay a group of busybodies to tell them how they can't live in their own house. What color it has to be, what flowers to have and how many. What curtains and when they can and can't be open. What car you can have and what color. How many kids and when they can be seen but not heard. What a bunch of bullshit. And you pay for that. I can see level of clean and repair especially what is visible to the neighborhood but beyond that they can fuck off.
1: you don't need HOA approval to replace a downed fence. they are legally required to do the 2 following. 2: they have to give you a warning. 3: they have to give you time to make corrective action. also, 4: you can contact the IRS to conduct an audit 5: ALL PROCEDES are to be documented and accounted for for tax purposes and are subject to review by the HOA members.
They are doing this everywhere. We lost our beach, dock, laundry facilities, 2 years of pool shutdown in July & August,, putting trashy trailers in clear view. All of this depreciates the value of our property. We are not owners. We are glorified renters. They are getting ready to sell the land to the highest bidder. Sorry you're going through this. Far too much power from HOA's and management companies.
Don't move onto any property that's controlled by an HOA. They have a lot of legal leeway. Because they're private, they can control everything, even do stuff that's illegal for a government to do. Make sure your new place is not part of an HOA. Even in 2010, I knew HOAs were bad news, and when my friend was buying, I made sure we asked the realtor if the property was part of any HOA, or any other BS. Even if an HOA has a reputation of being great, all it takes is one board election to turn it to crap.
My wife and I live in the Midwest and have a nice house with no HOA. We are planning on moving to Central Florida, and the town and neighborhood we picked as a destination? No HOA's, no CDD's, no deed restrictions. We would never buy a house that other people in the neighborhood could tell us how to manage.
You DO NOT have to stay while they count them. Once you drop it off your debt is paid in full, and if they don’t take the payment then the debt is legally considered forgiven
I bought in Florida 15 years ago and finally moved her from Maine 3 years ago and I love it here. really nice to be proud of your governor for a change!!! but I'm not sure what would ever possess someone to buy in an h.o.a it's like the Gestapo! so you buy a house and let someone else tell you what you can and cannot do with it??? as you pay all the payments and fees? that sounds down right unamerican...I'll be dammed if someone is gonna have the power to show up on my door and tell me the rules. You guys are nuts for willingly moving into something like that! whenever you freely give someone power over you, they will use it!
People who live in HOAs ask for it, and it's stupid. U all set urself up drama. When u thing ur just going to be safe like nothing going g to happen to u and ur family. Even if a HOA was going to pay me to live in an HOA, I wouldn't
