Hmm i dont think ive ever thought of shars and flats, maybe when it comes to like d flat or c sharp major, but im unsure if a classical approach is best I really personally like songs, the number system. Early chord building, circle of 5ths, interval training, critiqur on aongs, llaying with my teacher when i had one - improvinisation and umm transctibing or playing by ear challenges either live or at home. Personally thats what i found most helpful, if i could change anything it would be to dive deeper into what makes a great verse or choris, that the easiest way to shift is a small key change, and like just some basic white stripes blues pentatonic theory (every note in the pentatonic is major deal with it) Oh and alternate picking, i think knowing the names of notes when ur playing and associated chords and extensions is so far down the track, personally i think it will demotivate students... tho after learning to think the notes, even when playing chords, when i play, my absolute pitch has substantially improved Idk. One last thing is i wish like there was someone to say like -- hey if its uncomfortable for u to play this piece, lets figure out why, maybe alter the phrasing for smaller hands or adjust a traditional shape to better fit my hands (i use almost all right angles now, even on power chords) Just my 2 cents, but got damn did i love playing Damnit as a kid, or brainstew, or dead leaves

As a bassist I don’t recommend using the open strings since it will become a bad habit in the long run, and you also need to train all of your fingers as fast as you can.
