Excellent review!!!! Can i confirm that you mentioned even with putting your own mattress and bedding in you can close it down effectively? That has been my main concern whilst we are looking for our next RTT. Cheers 🌞

Great video guys, Ruby is beautiful, she looks like our big boy Hahn (Great Dane x Bull Arab 45kg). That shot of he flat on her back legs in the air, such a Great Dane thing to do. We take our big boy camping whenever we can, and with his reactive traits we do find it hard, it's good to know others are out there with the same issues.

That's a great video you guys, well done. I have a German Shepherd (Gita, 36kgs) who travels with me up and down New Zealand. Agree with you Pros and cons list. The Nation Park ban is a pain, though it's strange that Northern Hemisphere countries don't tend to have the same bans. Not picking up after your dog is the fastest way to make enemies, just do it. Often wondered about travelling with no dog until my previous Shepherd Kara died of old age and I travelled on my own for 6 months, it was just awful and my fitness fell through the floor with no incentive to get off my rear end. The camping area bans actually do me a favour as it makes me get off the beaten track more and away from the crowds. Gita is very sociable with other dogs but can be a bit guarding close to the car and van. Though she also has a lockable safe crate across the back of the LC200 (inside). Biggest fear, and it has happened, is false complaints from entitled parents of young children who seem to think their kids can run amok but your dog must be perfect.

Flapping straps. This is a hack from our boat. Put one or two twists in the strap and the flapping will go away. Because of the twist, air gets pushed in all directions causing it to stay put 👌

Great review, thanks for this. One tip to help with flapping flat straps is to twist them once or twice (if possible). Our tent on the trailer had flat straps for tie-downs and twisting them a few times (they were really long) helped immensely with the flapping and vibration from them.

One thing about a tent on the ground is less dangerous going out for a piss at night. Great job.

I have this tent as well. Besides the wind flap which stops me from sleeping I'd say the worst part about that tent is that it zips open from the top. This means that if you need to go pee at night you have to unzip the entire thing instead of just slipping out the bottom.

Highly recommend the mattress upgrade and an extra latch to go in the middle of the long side I can fit a sheet, thick cotton planet and doona made normally plus two pillow in centre of tent and the new ones do come out with a locking pole thingo for the gas struts and the ladder hook things I’ve found some heat shrink that also has a glue lining is the only thing that lasts the abuse hahah

Great video. I’ve had mine for over 2yrs now. My best mods are -2 Ryobi compact fans with 2ah batteries hanging from the bar on the roof. We live in Cairns. -Sheets from Drifted Off. Brisbane company who see the top sheep onto the fitted sheet. -Tontine mattress toppers from BigW on top of the mattress. We own the 1200 wide so got a local sewer to cut then down. We like the tent as it’s not claustrophobic for my partner. Keep up the videos guys 👍👍

Good one. Last year (2022) I was also interested in this RTT, mostly due to its low height when closed, and weight. But decided against it due to its lack of a hard floor - I'm not a fan of the slot system that this RTT uses as its floor, and I prefer a clam shell style RTT. So instead, I ended up getting the Darche Ridgeback RTT when it went on sale last year. However, the Darche is 200mm thick when closed and weighs 85kg (40mm & 20kg more than the Drifta), so I've always wondered if I made the right choice not getting the Drifta. But after your honest review, you just further reinforced that I made the correct choice. 'Coz other than a $39 mattress topper, I haven't had to spend a single cent to make my Ridgeback very comfortable and liveable.

Hi Guys, Great honest vid. I clicked on it because Ruby looks like she could have been my dogs sister. I had a Great Dane x Bull Arab x Staffie x Kelpie mix. A black and white extremely powerful handsome 40kg boy. When my wife and I separated a couple yrs ago we agreed the best thing for him was for her to take him to France with her. She lives in the Pyrenees mountains where he got walked in the wilderness off lead for 3-6 hrs every day. Unfortunately he got hit by a truck and killed outright a few months ago, and before I could make it over to see them. As much as I want to get another dog, and also travel, the very limited access to places you can take a dog in Australia are making my decision very hard. I’d also like to say to you both, no matter how much pup training you do (and we did everything) each dog will have it own personality in the end, and you can’t predict or completely change that. Our boy was not the most sociable dog by the time he reached two (despite full on training as a pup). So don’t feel bad thinking that if you’d done things differently Ruby would be different.. It’s not a guarantee at all. We also lovingly called our boy “Burden” at times 😂😂. Anyway I didn’t mean to write a book, just to say thanks for being honest…I agree with everything you said. 😊😊

We are so sorry to hear about your doggo, sounds like an amazing mix so i can only imagine what he was like! Yeah you are very restricted with where you can take them unfortunately.
