I’d be very apprehensive to swim with these guys for the only purpose being that big males can get to be 4 tons and are notoriously aggressive. Even if it is just a playful bite the force behind it is would break bone

This is NOT normal. Yes, the feeding part is normal, however the other flamingo should NOT be piercing the head of the mother. Flamingos feed with their MOUTHS, not their SKULLS ffs.
unfortunately these things are native to where i live, but fortunately only the mountain regions so i don't have to deal with these things very often at all!
