The voltage is fine. I think it was 06 or 07 they started using more efficient charging strategies. So if you have a great battery, the computer senses it (you will see a ring shape current sensor with one of the battery cables going through it). If the battery doesn't need to be topped off, no need for the alternator to send out extra voltage, thus more efficient and longer battery / alternator life.
I had one, but too many dash warning lights and no original rims so i sold it. Now I found one, all orginal, no dash lights but with 230k miles😭 very affordable, should I get it?
The 96-2000 something silverado & sierra trucks have a trans cooler that is the same type as the B&M supercooler ....they are very effective trans fluid coolers and diy guys looki g to solve the heat issue for low buck should srarch the boneyards for that trans cooler.
I have the same truck same model only stick shift it has 378 000 miles and it starts right up has lots of power great air conditioning rides like heaven I guess I can say it's an Amazing truck great on gas too my friend had a 2017 frontier with 140. ,000 and the engine blow out
Dude. It means the maximum torque rating. 4 is four speed. T means transverse mounted. 65 means 265 ft.lbs of torque. And e means electronic control. It's a Volvo transmission that GM used for years. It's underrated for the LS4 which output 303hp and 325 ft lbs of torque. I still have the original transmission in my GXP without a cooler. I change the fluid and filter yearly and increased the cooling fan speed at a lower temperature with a Diablo tuner. No problems so far after 16 years.
Nope, 4= 4 speed T= transverse mounted 65= 6500 pound maximum weight rating the transmission can handle E= electronic controlled I put links on all this stuff, on one of my videos. There is no conclusive proof of how much foot pound of torque this transmission is rated for, GM does not say.
had found one on carfax exactly in that color & interior with low mileage these LS4 cars are gems ! even if there FWD they definitely muscle cars I have a lazer blue 2006 Impala SS got it in 2019 about to be 5 years might just get a Pontiac as my 2nd car soo cleann 👍🏼
Yup, I seen a very nice 2008 monte carlo ss on carguru couple months ago for 6k, it had all new performance suspension, new heavy duty performance transmission and all kinds of upgrades, sold in less than 2 weeks.
I've replaced the transmission radiator and new fans and after market cooler, and it still runs over 200 sometimes, especially when I do mountain driving. I think this heat problem is also some kind of design problem
dang, got mine in january and ran fine until recently hearing some clunking, which I found could be the driver output shaft before the cv axle(probably my fault since temps got to 230 once on highway before I got it back down). been told it could be a bushing in it, but not sure if it's one you could get without taking the whole thing out. was told by a shop if the trans is taken out, it'll have to be rebuilt(fair since it is at 165k miles). If so, I get an excuse to use the triple edge stage 1 kit at least, even if it'll cost me 2-2.5k just on parts...
165 thousand miles, you got lucky it made it that long. The engines are good in these cars, so if u have a decent interior, good suspension, good overall paint, it would be worth it to rebuild transmission. If any of the things above are bad, i would not invest in new transmission.
Mine done that also turns out the clunking was a broke mount on the steering rack and pinion, replacing this cured the problem. Be sure to check the steering rack

What kind of update, the car or the transmission cooler?? BOTH are performing very well, like i said, for this Big V8 engine, and small transmission, it is 100% a neccesity to add a trans cooler.
In these cars with the V8 Engines, and little V6 rated transmissions, you will need it all year round, in cold weather, the transmission oil still gets above 210 degrees easily. GM engineers should have thought of this when they designed the car.
Hi! Thanks for the interesting video. I am always interested in American dump trucks. I would be happy to take away whatever Dodge Ram is under restoration and make it for myself. I love American pickups and Trucks
Привет! Спасибо за интересное ввидео. Мне всегда интересны Американские автосвалки. Я бы с удовольствие забралбы какой не будь Додж Рам под восстановление и сделал бы его для себя. Люблю Американские пикапы и Траки
@@Drive4YourLifeAZ other than the transmission that I rebuilt. I love my super, only thing she doesn't have is a sunroof 😭 😂. I've probably rebuilt everything except the engine internals etc. I was about to sell her few months back, but decided not to. Probably just sit her down. Very fun torque. Yeah just let me know if you ever come through Kansas City. I'm probably gonna start making videos with her. There's another guy out here with a black one and there use to be a burgundy one few cities over in st louis but I think the little dude crashed it.
Oh definately the LACROSSE, if your looking for a muscle car , it has the LS4 V8 engine, but it has the not so good 4T65E HD transmission. The Lucerne Northstar V8, a little less power, but more luxury, has a very good 4T80E cadillac transmission. I would take the Lucerne Super! but there both very nice V8 cars.
I've got the same year and color,I bought mine brand New still have it 197000 + miles. My air conditioning controls are different then yours, I don't have the speed control dial like you have, I wonder why??? take care Ron Sr.
A lot of people tend to molest their cars especially these kinds. Ive always questioned the mileage and the their driving habits and how often they drive their cars but no answers
Mine is in PRISTINE CONDITION, BECAUSE I KEEP UP THE MAINTENANCE, AND IT ALSO HELPS THAT I ALMOST NEVER DRIVE IT. GOING on past 1 year with it, only driven about 1000 miles.
never will it be okay for a sports car to have a 3 speed with overdrive. 4l65 is a hop skip and jump away from a 4l60. do yourself a favor, get the manual trans.
The car shown in the picture is a Lucerne Super. I have owned a 2010 Lucerne CXL with the 3.9 V6 (not 3.8) for over 5 years and am very familiar with the Super. It comes with a 4.6 Northstar V8. The best way to tell from the side is the shape of the quarter window in the back door. The Lacrosse comes to a point and the Lucerne angles forward in the back sort of like a BMW rear side window. The Lucerne is also larger and is considered a full size car. Both have the 4 portholes.
Yup, you are correct, I was at a local shopping area nearby where i live, and i seen this car parked. It is a Lucerne CXS or CXL i cant remember exactly. But it is a Cadillac Northstar powered V8 .
@@Drive4YourLifeAZ I forgot about that. The earlier years they didn't call it a Super. The Northstar V8 model with 4 portholes was called the CXS I believe.
Yup, GM ALSO gave the Buick Lucerne CXS a 4T80E transmission, a more powerful transmission than the 4T65E hd transmission. Damm, if only GM could have configured the 4T80e transmission to the LS4 engines , it would be heaven on wheels. And also the BUICK LACROSSE SUPER, of all the LS4 Engine makes, had the most luxury options, even more than the Grand Prix GXP, it also had high performance Bilstein suspension like the GRAND PRIX GXP.
the trans fail for a lot of reasons, but overheating does not help. keeping the fluid under 180 will help a lot tho. theres a lot of slop in the clutch packs of the transmission. the torque converters are not rugged enough. displacement on demand puts extra work on the transmission, causing the torque converter to overheat and destroy itself, sending metal thoughout the transmission. disabling DoD and putting in the tru-cool should go a long long ways in protecting these transmissions provided a person doesnt engage in too much racing.
@@shamarmiller1281 yup, i hope i find one for sale from a old lady or man, who barely drive it, and have it in PRISTINE CONDITION! hopefully under 5k. lol
