Contrary to reality, I actually do use soap a fair bit in ER - for anyone that hasnt worked out what it does, it just cleans you (shocker, I know) but I've found it's come in handy many times to help me conserve boluses. Sometimes you'll be poisoned or afflicted with rot, for example, and you use a bolus but after if clears the bar the build-up is so significant that you end up needing to use a second bolus because you either get re poisoned or it's so close that you may as well. But if you have soap handy and use it after you exit the suspicious liquid, it halts any further build-up meaning you only ever need at most 1 bolus to clear your affliction. Plus it's so cheap and easy to make, I always make sure I have some on hand.
So what I do is begin new journey and start with the first weapon of the game, and every boss I kill, I switch to the next weapon, and then next weapon
You kept talking about a shortage of runes but really just slap on your Scarab of Stinginess and go to that place in northeast Caelid to farm those little midgets. With your Scarab talisman equipped, each midget is worth 1500 runes. It's easy to get 10 - 20 midgets in a single run before you have to rest at the site of grace again, so it's like downing a boss.
My playthrough as a sorcerer in a nutshell: Stage 1. Spam pebble Stage 2. Spam night comet Stage 3. Spam stars of ruin & Adula's blade with occasional use of comet azur
My most recent playthrough I duel wielded great swords infused with different status effects depending on the enemies I was facing- the Flamberge was one of them, Claymore was the other- I don't think I'd consider the Flamberge a rarely used sword. That playthrough was tied as my favorite- I don't know that I'll ever enjoy anything more than the Strength Colossal Greatsword Build- it's so much fun!

I have literally found one use where the twinblade talisman helps The ornamental straight swords unique heavy if used on enemies it can stun practically is a guaranteed oneshot
Whenever I see the "Age of Fracture" ending I wish I could give 2 likes to a video instead of just the one (it feels great when a player spits in Marika's face making all her machinations amount to literally nothing, lol she deserves it IMO.)
