There are lots of Avid Learning Partner schools out there, I’d suggest checking out this page and you can likely find a training somewhere near you: www.avid.com/learning
This is awesome - thanks! I’m switching to PT from Logic and this is super helpful. Going to check out the rest of your stuff after this one. Take care!
Finally a tutorial where the goal is not to impress us but to help us understand! The most valuable moments on RU-vid is the little silence after an important sentence! Thank you!
Hi, when I'm trying to create Audio mono track for vocal recording, it is not showing any input on the track in edit window for microphone. But it is working fine for Stereo Audio track. Can you please help ?
I love how proud he was of this beat at the end 😂 nostalgia is a beautiful thing. Great video learned a lot despite using protoola for over a decade. Thanks! Will sub 💪🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾
It doesn’t need one, there isn’t any output. It’s like a piece of sheet music, something needs to read it. Why not just use a virtual instrument track and save the extra work?
I am doing everything in your video, but I think the connection is not establishing correctly on my end. I am using "Pro Tools First" and have my 2 tracks set up the same way, but when I add MIDI data, no sound. Sending MIDI track to VI track, using Xpand! since it is my only instrument option. I tried drums, organ, synth - all no levels reading on my VI track. I have to be missing something - please help I'm going crazy.
Midi instruments won’t work on an Audio track. Make a stereo instrument track then place the instrument plugin there. Record enable it to hear your input. That help?
@@scottwolfguitar Dude 1st off thank you for a quick reply. 2nd off - and this is for anyone as "inexperienced" as I.... My interface drivers were out of date, and I use that as my stereo output for my monitors. Thanks again Scott - now your video has helped me :D
Hey there! I'm wondering if you can help me with this issue: I'm able to automate my EQ plugin in Protools, however, it doesn't show up as yellow. When I play it back, it plays the recorded automation, but it doesn't show as yellow. How can I solve this???
Love the video. Thank you. How do you play the instrument through my Yamaha Motif ES 8? I can play the mini grand by clicking the notes with my mouse and I hear it fine, but I need my Yamaha to trigger the virtual instrument so I can play a song. Appreciate the support.
Hi! Your Yamaha should be plugged via usb to your computer, then record enable the mini grand track and you should be able to hear yourself playing. Then start recording and do your performance. Hope that helps!
When renaming paths in a session, rather than go to the very busy I/O setup dialog, right click on any Input, Output, or Buss and rename it right there. All others instances will change to follow it. When I discovered this, I thought I was dreaming. A huge brain-saver in any size session.
I was doing some searching on comping/playlists and found some decent videos, but this is by FAR the best one and I think I've seen them all at least once. It's my 2nd comment on this video but that was before I saw the others. They aren't even close. Thank you so much for this info (again).
Certainly informative, but a bit confusing at times (and a bit of information overload for me, personally). I was hoping that you also covered things like how to further minimize CPU usage and how to properly utilize things like E.Q. and Channel Strips and their respective purpose.
I just found this video and I must say that it is truly helpful. None of this was covered in such detail on my music production course (I guess they gave us the basics and hoped for us to do our own research. Thankfully, I enjoy doing research). Thank you very much for putting out this content!! Extremely valuable.
@@scottwolfguitar that would be fantastic! I have a lot of expansion pack samples that are all imported easily into workspace, they just aren’t tagged or organized so it’s kind of hard to go through them.
Oh I don’t think I understood the question. I’m pretty sure you can add your own tags inside the workspace itself? Not much experience with that but I know custom tags are totally a thing.
@@scottwolfguitar oh yeah! I think I know how to tag them myself, It would just be a lot of work for a couple thousand samples 😂 I was hoping workspace could scan and tag files from a hard driven once they are brought in
Hmmm, I bet there is a batch edit function in there somewhere. Or, another option is to use your OS to automate renaming them / adding meta data on the hard drive before you import them?
