I remember as a kid, buying this game for only $5 at Wal-Mart. Then, after about 45 minutes of playing it, thinking..."Man, I got ripped off...$5 is way too much for that game!"
Well, the video's b&w Popeye Feature style intro is unexpected and awesome. I haven't received my copy yet but I know the game well enough to see what a great port it is.
Ya, I like it. It's just missing that "special sauce" to push it higher for me. I'd definitely recommend people try it, though. I didn't know they changed the rom! What changes were made?
@mikesgaminggala I believe the blue one omits the first wave and starts on the second wave. So the green has an easier difficulty ramp, I guess you could say.
To be honest, BR was never a deep game for the home ports. As a kid I enjoyed his on my 5200 and was impressed by the 2600 version( more impressed that they even tried to make on the 2600) . By today's standard it isn't anything special and pretty repetitive. I do already have the intellivision version, I just haven't gotten to playing it yet. Star Trek the arcade game is another that comes to mind as that to along with SW arcade were ported to just about every console back in the day. It is interesting that anyone even cared to make this for intellivision all these years later.
Great intro with some chaotic characters lol, yeah this game doesn't impress me much , graphically and the gameplay are sub par for my taste , thanks for the review Mike
I just ordered this and Space Bandits because I had the free shipping code. This game is the weaker of the two but I find it more fun than Star Strike. Hope that does not get me shunned. Waiting for Exerion for Intellivision which I also ordered.
Great intro again... the game needs enemy fire to dodge in more levels, than just avoiding them coming in from behind and shooting them. Yeah, it looks like this one would get boring really quickly... thanks for the review...
