I guessed when he started crying before you went to confront Jack that he had a personal stake in seeing Jack dead, but this part of his history really made me feel sorry for him, he not only watched Jack destroy his friends and fellow claptraps he inadvertently assisted him in doing it. Even after being made the only one left he was still treated like an outcast. Kinda wish there was a way to have him at least canonically personally witness Jacks death
Athena was the most vocal about how she didn't like Claptrap, but she was the only one who felt bad about Jack killing him and his entire product line.
The Ironic thing, claptrap joining forces with roland & co was jacks downfall. He was the only One who Could open The gates of the Bunker, and of the Hero's pass.
When I eventually beaten and killed Handsome Jacks ass, I didn´t do it just for all the people that he killed, not just for the fact that he not only killed our good friend Roland, imprisoned Angel for pretty much her whole life for his own cruel needs, also captured and imprison Lilith temporary in order to finish his objective, and not just all of the destruction, pain and death of what he had caused for our beloved characters and to our world.... I did it for our Claptrap. Claptrap had followed Jack blindly throughout getting the H-Source, not listening hard enough to Shadowtraps clear warnings in order to help his "Friends", and when he saw his entire line of other Claptraps get pretty much terminated on the spot, it broke my damn heart that Claptrap pretty much helped his kind pretty much get snuffed out on the spot without realizing it until it was too late, I really only felt worse when he was shot through and left to die in the snowy parts of Pandora by Jacks hand, it really fucked with me there and helped me see how much more cruel that a person can be. And Shadowtrap...instead of dying along with Claptrap, he instead chose to used the last bit of his strength and power to sacrifice himself in order to keep Claptrap functioning for just a bit more time, hoping that someone would find Claptrap...and he was right, Shadowtrap was a better person than Jack ever could be, and I will die on this hill for that, in the end he did care for Claptrap a lot more than most of the borderlands characters do for him. After all that time that had passed after the pre sequel, I can certainly understand Claptraps anger, being the last of your kind all because a man found them too "Annoying" and decided to kill them all just for that would boil my blood too to a high heat. Because Claptrap wasn´t able to properly teabag Jacks corpse for what Jack deserved...I did it for him, and boy did I do it for a long damn while too, ten minutes well spent. Being sad for a robot that can FEEL emotions about just as much as a lot us can really makes me tear up a bit. Hope you one day have a great end to you Claptrap, you deserve it for all that you have gone through.

Shadowtrap is without a doubt one of the most underrated characters of the series. His arc is subtle but his transition from Villain to Anti-Hero is one of the greatest At the start Shadowtrap claims to be on Claptrap's side the entire time, but his actions constantly prove that he's just the same as all the others: he manipulates Claptrap for his own ends over and over again. From the projections of his friends, to fooling you into rescuing his Hope and Self-Esteem only to force you to destroy them, to attempting to crack open a giant hole for himself to take over Claptrap entirely, the friendship he offers is basically 'I can be a better you than you are, so just let me'. And this is because Shadowtrap doesn't actually understand friendship. It might be a facet of his programming or it could just be that he has zero life experience and his entire worldview is skewed around the kind of thoughts you can have while chained up in a mental basement. It certainly has something to do with the fact he values power over everything else. But Claptrap's system quarantined Shadowtrap for a reason. You could argue it was just a glitchy malware filter, but you could equally argue that Shadowtrap was simply not the person that Claptrap wanted to be. The thing that transforms Shadowtrap into an anti-hero is being taught what friendship is and actually doing something with that lesson. He comes to understand that friendship is not about what you personally gain yourself, but what you give to others. Up until his final scene, Shadowtrap gives nothing to Claptrap. He only takes. He is willing to take EVERYTHING and when Claptrap says he does not want to become an unstoppable killing machine, Shadowtrap basically tells him he never had a real choice to begin with. Claptrap chose to have faith in his friends and, though they betrayed him just as Shadowtrap said they would, it is also what saved him. Not just from being consumed by Shadowtrap, but by helping Shadowtrap realize that Claptrap deserved to have his faith rewarded. And in sacrificing himself with no future reward or even recognition in sight, Shadowtrap finally does understand what friendship means.

Claptrap went through all this, and after recreating one of his kind, the only other functional Claptrap unit in existence, she turns out to be a radical feminist who immediately eviscerates Claptrap's hope of companionship. BL3 is so badly written that I genuinely don't know if Bitchtrap was supposed to be "in the right" or intentionally hated.
So wait, does the mean not only did Claptrap lose the ability to use stairs, but also lost his VaultHunter.EXE!? I loved that ability, I was hoping for claptrap to have in Borderlands 2, but wow, thats just even sadder now..
You know whats funny? Is that Claptrap is literally the best vault hunter in this game. Due to the fact he doesn't need a thing to breath and his suprisingly good special.

This DLC makes it so I wish, I WISH we had one more option when we Beat Jack in Borderlands 2.... "Alright Vault Hunter, this is it, either you Kill Jack, or I will....", "Oh no, no no, Lilith, we've got something SPECIAL planned for Jack here, see he doesn't deserve to die at the hands of the Saviors of Pandora, or the Mighty Firehawk... No, Jack deserves to die at the hands of someone more 'fitting' for a LOSER like him...." Cue squeaky wheel, "HEY JACK! I've been looking for you, see I have a question, I think you can answer...." "No no no! Not him, you can't let him do it!? I can't be killed by that worthless hunk of junk!!?!" "Oh Jack, no need to feel that way, come on, we're old buddies, by the way... Do you know the difference between 'Choking.... and STRANGLING." Cue Jack's perspective those little clamp hands coming for him and the eye going RED.... Desperate choking noises before the screen goes black. THAT'S how Handsome Jack deserved to die!
