I love music, and music videos. I always have done, and I thought this channel would be a good way to discover new music and artists, and maybe learn a little something along the way. And if people enjoy it too, then all the better!
She has 2 hearts left. I was really hoping they would a second part. This band is absolutely amazing. His voice is so smooth. I love The Still from them.
Kevin does a solo at the end of Amazing Grace where they’re at that stunning church. For those who think he just does beatboxing because they think he can’t sing, he proves them wrong here. If I remember correctly, it starts at about 4:09.
Simon and Garfunkle's original is a warning, almost a voice crying out in the wilderness. Disturbed's version is closer to anger that the warning had been ignored. PTX's cover (upgrade)is closer to the people coming together to recover.
For an example of their vocal precision and dexterity check out their upgrade of Gold by Kiiara. For high energy there's Can't Hold Us, Sing, Blinding Lights, and Cruisin' for a Bruisin' doesn't attract many reactors but is definately worth a watch. A couple featuring Kirstin are Shallow and Be My Eyes. That should tide you over for a few weeks. Keep in mind, this just scratches the surface of their talent as practically every song exhibits some unique and amazing facet of their abilities.
Much to the dismay of my parents in the 60's, my sister bought Simon and Garfunkel's (sp?) album at a time when the Vietnam war was in full swing. This was one of my favorite tracks. Every reaction of PTX's rendition gives me goosebumps. Thanks!!
This was released on February 15, 2019 and I don't believe it's on any of their albums; with that release date it certainly isn't on a Christmas album. A Google search for a #PTX album containing "Sound of Silence" yields only the information that it's available on a ShowTrax CD.
Glad you’re keeping Pentatonix in the rotation, thanks! They did a version of God Only Knows from The Beach Boys that I really like, I think also on a Christmas album. I don’t mind in the least if they stretch the definition of holiday music, I’m on board for it all. Can you imagine what a cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water would sound like if they chose to cover that one? Fantastic, I’m sure. Loved your reaction! Peace …
I would love for them to cover more Simon and Garfunkel, too! Like the *whole* 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' album! Starting with "BOTW" and "The Boxer"! And "Scarborough Fair!" Especially "Scarborough Fair!"
This one is from relatively early in Matt's tenure with the group, early 2019, after he'd been with them for about 1 1/2 years (it's now been almost 7 years!). Their last 2 Grammy nominations were for full albums, Evergreen (from Christmas 2021) and Holidays Around the World (from Christmas 2022, nominated in 2023 for the awards in February 2024). The category they were nominated in both times was a pretty broad one, and was stacked pretty heavily with strong artists, so they didn't win either of those. The submission for consideration comes from the record label, not the group. Many think RCA should have submitted just "The Prayer" instead of the whole album from 2022, might have had a better chance, but it is what it is. The Prayer and Amazing Grace are both fabulous performances.
TOM IS MY PATRIOT RAPPER HERO! GOD BLESS AND PROTECT THIS OUTSPOKEN SOCIAL GENIUS !! HE IS MY HERO. (PSST! I NEVER LIKED RAP MUSIC TIL I FOUND TOM... NOW I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF HIM."
PTX is pretty well known for including one or two non-Christmas songs on their Christmas albums. For instance, on their latest Christmas album, "Kiss From a Rose" is hardly a Christmas song, but it's on the the album nonetheless.
I'm not sure The Sound of Silence was on an album. The two you mentioned are off of PTX Vol. IV - The Classics, but it's not listed in the contents on that album. I know when I bought it off Amazon a few years ago, it was as a single, not as part of an album. Further research just muddies the waters. The "Pentatonix discography" page in Wikipedia seems to indicate that it might be on the PTX Japan 5th Anniversary Greatest Hits, but looking at that album it doesn't seem to be listed in the contents. At this point, I'm going with "it was released as a non-album single", since they've done that for multiple songs.
If a song includes any kind of wintery mention, Scott (tall blonde) will include it on a Christmas Album LoL Like this past Christmas, Kiss from a Rose was included in the Christmas album because it has the word snow in it. There’s a short of Scott going thru his process of trying to find songs that’s pretty funny.
They have won three Grammy's for Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Jolene with Dolly Parton. Definitely need to do The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Prayers for this World
I know it’s a Christmas tune, but I can’t wait for you to react to “Mary, Did You Know?” As for this performance, the live version is in a lower key. Only people with perfect or relative pitch would hear it. That’s why I don’t like live performances unless it’s legit music.
So you do not like the original song anymore. I can respect that! I feel I must reiterate that Mitch is not using a megaphone, except only as a prop. If he did, it would be a voice altering device and they could not say they were doing a cappella. They do a song where Kevin is playing the cello and I do not like it. Is he talented? Without a doubt, but I cannot listen to it for purity sake. On the childish side of me, I also cannot hear their version of “The Little Drummer Boy” because I am now on my 11-year winning streak of the LDB Challenge (yes, it’s a real thing.) For the past 10 years, I have avoided at all cost, hearing that song from hell during the Holiday season! I will not give in!! I think I’m going to like you!
If you watch the Sing Off contest for all acapella groups, this is where it all started. Scott, Mitch and Kirstie all went through high school together, and in order to enter the contest they needed to have a minimum of 5 members. Hence, they acquired Avi and Kevin.
If you react this, it's the original line up with Avi. Always better live, their live Christmas performance of Hallelujah... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-haFHrfmfHbc.html Is it live, or is it Memorex!?!
