We've been to Cayo Largo a good fifteen times over the last 25 years. We experienced the charm of the Capricho before it was blown away, but also the Linda Mar, and a few other hotels too. What's important to understand is that there's little or nothing to do on the island, and that's precisely why we're going back. Smaller hotel, different from the mega-resorts elsewhere. We went to Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Paredon. With children, it's best to plan a place where there will be activities, but without children, I much prefer the Linda Mar in Cayo Largo. It's small and not too crowded. Not necessarily a lot of beach in front of the hotel, but Playa and Playa Paraiso remain as beautiful and tranquil as ever. Peace and quiet! We went back in November 2023 and are returning in November 2024, whereas we went with the kids to Cayo Paredon in June the last three years. For a couple's vacation... it's Cayo Largo.

I just went from willow creak to eden ville on Sunday. Water is down a bit from when this is. The start of the forest is usually under water but it was all mud this time. Right when we started winding towards the forest, over a million birds started taking off. All ducks and harons with about 10 eagles flying over. Amazing place, I want to do from edan to wasaga next.

@chriswiseman

Watch starting at 1:55, you will see what I mean. I load the Google map before getting in. It acts as a GPS afterwards. The marsh is no joke, I read about people getting out with the helicopter after getting lost. I went 2 times, and the routes were slightly different, be prepared to get out of the boat.

It is possible to accept that everyone has the right to visit the place they want but it is not possible to accept collaboration with a dictatorship that is killing the Cuban people. People full of needs in Cuba, and all because that murderous dictatorship steals the money that tourists bring and uses it to promote dictatorships in other countries and that lead to the impoverishment of entire societies. You must be ashamed to collaborate with them and at the same time lie when you say that you love Cuba and Cubans. That is a great shame because all that money, far from helping the Cuban people, is plunging them into slavery and poverty. Money used to buy means of repression and increase their personal accounts in other countries to guarantee only their future and that of their families while the people go to hell Open your consciences and stop traveling to Cuba until it is a free country, without political prisoners without repression , without hunger. The services, the food and the resorts are also in a very bad conditions specially the medical services. It will be terrible if you get sick overthere. DO NOT TRAVEL TO CUBA, FREEDOM FOR ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS IN THE PRISONS OF THE DICTATORSHIP. NO COMMUNISM. DOWN WITH THE CASTRO-CANEL DICTATORSHIP DON’T TRAVEL TO CUBA

Here is a review that I left on TripAdviser The beach in front of the hotel has disappeared due to erosion. You have to take a free shuttle to go to Sirena beach, the most beautiful beach in Cuba in my opinion. A beach comparable to Tahiti. The colour of the water is azure blue. The sand is so fine that you sink into it when walking on it. The food is no better than other hotels in Cuba. You have to bring food from Canada in your suitcases. At the hotel, most room or patio doors do not close or open. The hotel management is totally incompetent to resolve this recurring problem. Fortunately I managed to solve the problem with the front door myself by fixing the latch on the lock. But for the hotel, it's not a problem if your room door doesn't lock. Despite everything, we had a great vacation. Don't miss the catamaran excursion to Iguana Island and the starfish lagoon.
