If you first loosen the oil filters, the contaminated oil will fall onto your crankcase and then loosen your crankcase. if you do it the other way around, your old oil will fall into your empty crankcase and mix with your new clean oil.
Nice Video Mate, Finally someone shows the wiring in depth on one of these. I have one I never could figure out what those white and red wires were for!
I know this video is 5 years old but I have two small tips I wanted to share: 1. You should immerse your new filters in fresh motor oil before installing it. It ensures a better circulation when you start your motor the first time after the oil change 2. Don't open screws with your torque wrench. You could damage it or at least loose your calibration. Thanks for your video. I now know that I have to search for something I can use to prevent the oil from running all over the exhaust before openig all the screws 😅
That was my father's second bike. One of the greatest idle sound ever. I guess the admission/cylinder/exhaust configuration had something to do with it, same with the monstrous low end torque, same with the narrow power band (the opposite you would expect from from a 2T, still narrow though). Then, as a scrawny young teenager, you try to start it. Those mechanical ignition systems. They wear out, they get out of sync. One spark happens a little too early, and you would rather be kicked by a mule. Never happened to me. I read about it though. Scary.
Yup they can really hurt you, i used to take the plug out and heat it on a gas stove then put it back in, and it started way easier, but you could get a compression release
Hi Mark, the chrome was all in good condition since the bike came from the USA. The worst condition was the wheel rims which I replaced with stainless steel ones 👍🏻
I wonder how many walkers complain that their walks are spoiled by the sound of quarry plant and farm machinery, do they stop tractor drivers and tell them they can't use the lane .
Sheared the key on mine. Raised hell on the tapered end of the crankshaft and the magneto basket. Never ran the same after that. Kept shearing keys. I told myself I would never own another motorcycle after that. That was 5 motorcycles ago. Lol
I am currently doing the same restoration, and your videos are priceless, they have helped me so much its unbelievable! Thank you for the time to make the videos and the quality of product is great, please start a nother restoration your channel will take off!
I have one of these I bought six years ago for 1000 dollars and it has all parts and has been sitting so it all frozen up but how much do you think it would cost to restore or do you think I should part it out?!
When 6ou try to find a serious video and find this joke. 🤣🤣 pick pockets ahead. OK imma find a different video. Imagine going into your cbt like yeah this means pick pockets ahead. And duck meand low bridge duck 🤣🤣 man you are too funny.
Oh People, These rebuild videos are a Display of one Ultra-Well rehearsed mechanic, a Display of rebuild Perfection that you will seldom witness, this Dude is an Artist of the Highest Order. Just Incredible. The results speak for themselves, this Final result could go straight to the Smithsonian, they better display it in the Front Lobby. Enjoy these vids, PHEW, they do come with a WARNING. He makes it look easy, proceed with caution & do a thorough reality check before you bury yourself in this Level of any rebuild. Choppa. KUDOS to the TARMAC TURTLE
Man thanks for this! Planing to replace my chain and i absolutely have no idea how to do it (this is my first bike) it seems i can do it with this video easily. Thanks!
I chopped in my gsx1400 and bought a Tmax..I'm loving taking my coffee and butties with me and exploring Northumberland and Scottish borders and thinking to downsize to a basic 250 with some off-road ability!.every bike is an adventure bike and like you, a moped in the 70's, and 35 bikes since. My clutch throttle and braking technique was the " ride Mode" and a slipper clutch was just not being a twat changing down! Simple riding for the hell of it!! Great words of wisdom!
more and more losses to the lanes means more traffic on the permitted lanes which means more closures which means more users on fewer lanes yada yada yada. 1000s of miles of footpaths and some walkers want to ban vehicles from the very places they are MEANT to be! SHITE (and sorry.... I gave up riding RUPPs BOATs, Paths with Higher rights as a result I just got fed up of spending 15 mins of every ride discussing the point with ignorant twits.... not sure I spelt that correctly? In short... the moaners beat me.
Hello. I have a 1972 RT2 360. Has 5800 miles on it. I have only ridden it 30 miles. I noticed the shifter is dry and gets stuck. I changed the gear box oil with 1000cc of belray gear saver 75 weight. Not sure if this oil is too thick. After I shift to 5th gear, I downshift and I cannot downshift to 2nd and 1st. I have to stop the bike and manually work the shifter back to 1st. Should I consider replacing the gear shaft like you did ? If so, where can I buy that shaft. Grateful for help. Also, I noticed there are 2 drain plugs under my RT2 ... what is the one closer to my shifter ? Grateful for any help. Ed
Hello. Just curious. Did you use an All Balls steering bearing kit .. I’m installing an all balls kit on my rt2 but in my kit (22-1007) both tapered bearings and races are the exact same size. Bottom one is good but race too big for top. I need a smaller race and bearing for the top. What bearing kit did you use please on your RT3. Thank you. Ed Burger
