I think the quest giver Rhianne mentioned was a player. for better or worse, Empire is very player stimulated and the actual PD written plot is very hard to find. The best sure alternative is to speak to your nation's Egregore and tell them what you want from the game.
Really enjoyed this, especially as i have been involved in the test of ardour from the sides and seeing how becky has been getting on with this. I do hope house de gauvin are footing the bill for the wedding
Really fun episode! Stephen K playing the Gardener and Hayaak is moderately hilarious. I very much enjoyed our uneasy alliance and what that might spell for the future of Dawn.
Also worth asking Rhion to sing the Barrens cycle a set of songs he has written about the Dawnish conquest of the barrens. It's awesome. Congrats on 100!
Just wanted to say been a big fan since you started and because of your podcast I’m now going to my first event this month so keep doing what you do love the content
Such an accomplishment! I looked forward to Fridays at work each week in the morning when I usually listen to the whole episode to get me through the morning. Love hearing the Dawn noble perspective of events as I’ve been locked in the Marcher camp for the past year and haven’t done much game outside with other nations yet.
Long time listener first time commenter. Force weightings are a number based on historic averages of players per nation who take the field. There is always some minor imbalance from MC but the only thing that really throws the numbers out is when a nation has a sudden upswing in numbers that takes a couple of events to even out. The monster numbers for Saturday's battle were terrible, the Imperials outnumbered the Jotun by 200-300 due a balance of shit monster turnout and nation growth. As a result the Grendel outnumbered the Imperials by about 200 (as you count in the skirmish team numbers) on the Sunday. Also IMO the choice of nation makeup for the Sunday battle was terrible, but it would be rubbish if we won them all.
wow that is literally a numbers imbalance. As we said we were wanting Dawn on the Sunday from an MC perspective. Dawn did feel huge this event. That amount of imbalance is definitely a game design hiccup though.
@@2have2roleit's the least worst of doing it. Back in the old times there was an unspoken rule that generals would be expected to balance numbers which had a couple of pitfalls. The first was that people were apparently incapable of actually counting their own numbers and would often be like 'oh we're bringing no more than 80 troops' and then bring 150. And then there was a famous occasion when Military Council deliberately stacked the odds of a critical battle in reikos so that monster numbers would be low and victory would be ensured. And that's why we now have force weightings.
E3 is going to be my first event! Im in a new hall in Wintermark and i have a spot for my IC tent. Super looking forward to seeing anvil in all its glory and fingers crossed the weather perks up because im dreading yet another wet muddy event.
Sunday battle was probably the hardest i've ever done, it was just pure chaos and we (League) were basically fighting for our lives nonstop start to finish. By the end we were literally OC knackered which is why the Empire stopped being able to respond properly. I should have died and only survived going down twice by getting healed by the Siakha cultists by accident lol
You guys inspired me to go to my first larp later this year! Don't think I'm ready to throw myself into a big larp just yet, but im trying out Goblin Town and if I like it, maybe empire in the future!
As the orc shaman who 'officiated' (was shouting at all you humans) during the pit fight I'm really glad people enjoyed it, was my first pit fight and it was very much improv. Was great to meet you both ic!
Our Tiny Overlord was selling her own bracelets at her first Anvil which was E2 2024, she built up her confidence and was happily going up to people, brought things she wanted and sold most of the bracelets. She came home with around 4 crowns and started with nothing.
I am a Marcher and we were monstering in the woods on Sunday. Navarr couldn't get through us. I think the problem was which nations were chosen that lead to such a mismatch
The party was fantastic and for me it allowed me to relax and really build and strengthen bonds with new friends. genuinely came back from that event feeling more fulfilled and confident than i have in years, so thank you for the invite and glad you enjoyed the flavoured salts! (Exciting new flavours coming to E3 👀)
Mark has talked about the Borts before. I think it was him, Chris Trott, and Alex Smith that started it by all being called Bort, with a different descriptor to tell them apart.
Love your recaps and so hope I can travel to Empire larp someday! I’m a new larper in the US and just returned from Drachenfest US where our Silver camp came out victorious even in a dangerous heat wave. Truly a great experience and everyone lifted each other and ensured each other stayed safe. Number of attendees seems to have been up considerably from last year, somewhere over 900 which is good for year 3 and largest in the US. (@300 more than last year) Next up is Fayhaven, a smaller larp in Central US that Larp Shire is hosting. So looking forward to it and encourage you to reach out to Larp Shire RU-vidrs if you would like some American larper’s to chat with. Would love to have you come to a US event someday! I have to say it would be a great transition if your characters from Empire who passed beyond the veil awoke to the call of an avatar in the dragon lands someday. :)
Thank you! You should come one day. We have a substantial community of North Americans that attend, some travel, and some stay here in Europe. I see Drachenfest has been picking up some steam. We would to Larp in the states one day!
@@2have2role Only 1 main one on the east coast. Swordcraft. Its a Warhammer Fantasy system. Events are much smaller, maybe 100-150 in Brisbane. Bigger in Melbourne for sure, 400-500. I think Drachenfest Australia is going to be in Melbourne as well.
I love these recaps! I got to go to E2 as crew for the first time this year and it was so so fun, but damn, seeing the actual field and then hearing all the stories afterwards makes me want to play the game so much as well🤔 I need to figure out how to be in two places at the same time
Im glad you enjoyed crewing. We need the crew! I will say the advice I have received is the longer you are crew the harder it is to be immersed in the game as a player down the line. depending on which part of the crew. you can go play for an event then go back.
Been watching you guys for a long time, I love hearing all the stories each season from Empire! 💕Your anniversary party sounds like it was an absolute blast. Much love from the larp scene in Michigan in the US! 🥰
I had a very different gathering Saturday night, sat round the fire commiserating about house mates that had died in the skirmishes that night. Still some excellent roleplay and making connections but quite a different vibe to your party!
The temptation to put the jackdaws on a boat and bring larp safe harpoons next time we fight the Grendel is high ! Especially after all those shark based hijinks ! :p
Really enjoyed that Saturday battle as one of the Dawnish who were in the mobile flanking group. As you say, nicely efficient, which I enjoy (IC for sure) in a battle. Going to have to have a proper chat with Daemon one of these days; got a hunch there'll be one or two things our characters may have in common. :)
