i dont understand why these top down games dont adopt the dota 2 mechanics. camera grip to look around, center on hero, quick cast etc. Just coppy everything from dota. Also someone should try to combine topdown rpg with camera like word of warcraft, first person, third person, to get variety. Some areas where you have to play like world of warcraft to get the big world feel and some areas where you have to play like dota 2, for example in caves etc, mby some areas where you can choose.
I wish they did too. Even on PC I had to jump through hoops to get it running but the lack of availability on consoles is awful. Everyone that enjoys Grim Dawn make sure to try Titan Quest. Its about a decade older than Grim but done by the same devs. It has the two mastery system like Grim Dawn. Its set in ancient Greece but dies all mythology from around the world. Its available on pretty much any platform from Switch to PC. Even available on android! Playable on your phone on the go!

Little hint for early game. When you are down there fixing the towns water supply....there is a wall you can knock down that opens a decent treasure room!

Ugh I'm seriously on the fence about buying it. Lost Ark worked for like 2 months, Never really got stuck on PoE but been thinking if maybe Grim Dawn could change that. Does the Co-Op mode work well?
I will say this, Grim Dawn is absolutely a game you can try out, get a feel for it, and refund it within the 2 hour window on Steam if you think you won't enjoy it. Myself and pretty much my entire raid group back then, played Lost Ark when it came out. It lasted two days for us. So I think if you got 2 months out of Lost Ark, Grim Dawn will last you a lifetime and that's not me being a smartass honestly. I just think it's a far more engaging game, but the world is of course smaller than Lost Ark. The co-op mode works well enough but you'll need to have the same expansions, or use the GDswitcher tool on the crate forums to play vanilla with friends. I only had 2 bugs, and they both occurred on co-op. Loot my friend couldn't see, and a crash to desktop. After over a hundred hours without a CTD, I'm willing to bet that was bad luck. The loot thing may be a problem though. Sorry for rambling, wanted to give a good answer, thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate it! Thank you!

You must have been an English major in college. Great general review even in the first few minutes. This game has the greatest replay value of all IMO. I've got over 8K hours on Steam. It's really hard to put down.

I think the leveling slow down you experienced should pick up again once you jump to a higher difficulty, until you reach the 90s then it will slow down again even in ultimate.
I seem to remember going into ultimate about level 70, and you're right it did speed up! That 90+ though. That may be where a lot of my perception of slow leveling is coming from. I always hit a wall with the higher difficulties as would get melted in seconds and then found out Armor absorption was the key ....i wonder if there are other ways to increase survivability
I feel that, I lucked out big time on my first plathrough. I found a lot of my survivability was down to my death knight's leech. My oathkeeper without leech, but with a shield and heavy armour just got melted. Absorption sounds like it might help me out haha! this video shows how the original was so amazing and 10/10 but to me atleast everything that made the original a 10/10 was removed in the remake which makes me dislike it but it was ok and way too realistic than what the original was, so many good things were either cut or replaced in the remake and i hate this new type of aming they are doing, it the remake its just shit and the worst idea they had done, the new leon that ate up his trauma rather than walking it off and focusing on why he was there was removed and i just see the remake leon an emo and the lines he was wasnt cheesy or funny like the original but more eh and wanted to be deaf than hear what he said but "nighty night knights" i kinda liked it
I missed your comment so I'm sorry I'm late to reply! I saw a lot of the remake and without playing it, I prefer the original. A friend recently went back to try and play it and just couldn't get into it because of the way Leon handles. Like you said there's a real tone difference between the two versions. There's elements that look good but yeah lots of changes. I get what you're saying, and I do agree there's a dated look to them. But the truth is that's part of why I love how they look, they make use of tricks to look good. Tried it a couple times and kept dropping until i think i got bored mid poe league one time and came back to it, and it just clicked finally. I was having a blast and I got through everything. This is such a great game, i enjoyed GD so much that i even checked out the spiritual predecessor, Titan Quest, and got through all of it to lol. Now im just waiting for them to drop the DLC, hopefully its gonna be soon cause aarps are gonna be crazy the next few months between d4 and poe 1 & 2.
This is lovely honestly. I feel like I had a similar experience. I played vanilla Grim Dawn years ago for literally 40 minutes. I was disappointed with the demolitionist and didn't give the game the chance it deserved. I love it now. I only hear good things about Titan Quest haha, so if GD convinced you to play through the whole thing it must be pretty good too! I am more excited for PoE 2 than ever because of the Mercenary. It's like someone finally added the ranged combat I wanted haha! I hope all of these releases are good because arpgs seem to have such loyal and passionate fanbases. Normal is also viable for gathering Monster Infrequents for your build while also unlocking shrines. Use a merit to unlock the riftgates, then go to the areas to farm your desired MI's. This is also nice for leveling as the monsters will be way above your own level.
Grim Dawn. The Eternal Game. I hope the devs just keep expanding the map and the content through patches and expansion packs until eternity. Why make new games?! Just keep expanding one Game and everyone is happy.
I couldn't agree more. Grim Dawn is one of those games that could just grow, and I don't think they'd ever screw it up. Fingers crossed but I'll stick by that! I also like your tip about the Monster Infrequent farming, using normal + unlocked riftgates! Yeah, until you meet armored cultists and realize that all your fancy directional attacks are totally useless, and without magic you will need to spend 10 minutes per enemy at the very least.
This drudged up some sadness reading this. Cause it's all true. There's no lies here and enemy design like that really stands out, because when the game isn't pulling stupid stuff like that, it's lovely.
