He was brilliant. How ironic that the self proclaimed leader of the peace movement was in fact often vicious, abusive and cruel. Love much of his music with the Beatles but don't respect him as a person. Actually I don't care much for Paul either, for different reasons. Again, he was brilliant. At age 70 my absolute favorite was Ringo, the only one who didn't attack and wasn't attacked by the others. George was not as mellow as his reputation is during the early days. Probably the most abused of them, largely due to Paul.
Maybe it was your editing, I dunno. But why did the video give a mini bio of each guitarist. Including using the words Superstar on Brad's description.... Nuno was nowhere to be found. It's almost as if he wasn't important enough. Again, maybe it was your editing. But we watched the whole solo and there was no little graphic about who he was or where he came from. And everyone else got one. What's up with that?
Just enjoy the art, there’s nothing wrong with that. Being young we tend to paint our heroes as perfect. They’re not. It’s his first wife and Julian that suffered the most . It’s sad he seemed unrepentant of his treatment of them . But if we try to keep track of celebrity assholeism we’d never be able to enjoy any art.

the Woller story was pretty bad....its so stupid that people love the most rebellious 'dangerous' sometimes very ugly sounding bands(not Beatles) , but want them all to be nice people when WE want them to be. It happens in psychology all the time! If you are abused as a child, it becomes hard to change that behavior when you grow up! I'm not excusing John's hard exterior, but it is an explanation! Today's generation can't possibly understand how the parents coming home from a brutal war treated their children! I was beaten up every day of my life as a child. To my parents I had an easy childhood and I have nothing to complain about. So don't pretend to know who is good and who is bad. The kid got 20 million dollars for neglect that happens every day of the week to people who get nothing! And it still goes on today! Consider yourself lucky if your mom didn't throw you in a dumpster at birth! Get it?
There are very good reasons to take the shine off of John Lennon's celebrity status! The same reasons that the government tried to get him deported are the same motivations that got him killed!Those reasons didn't go away with his murder! Then everyone born before the 1960's was an asshole! We all did it! You are making the mistake that all "woke" people make when they judge earlier generations with today's standards. Slapped around by parents and teachers, bullied and punched on the playground by older kids. It was no picnic and the violent nature of the people at that time, though maybe not excusable, I do think it was completely understandable! The parents had just come through a war of such violence, that slapping your kid around for some minor offense seemed like a very mild form of punishment to them.

John's father Freddie did not simply 'abandon' him it was much more nuanced than that, he loved John and seemed genuinely to want to be a part of his life, Mimi however couldn't stand him and her almost matriarchal influence over the family didnt really allow the guy a chance. John never really did give his dad a fair hearing which was incredibly hypocritical given all of the womanising he was involved in whlile married to Cynthia.
He had a life of 2 half's basically his first 20 years of his life was incredibly hard and challenging compared to his second 20 years of the highest success and while he did have the other 3 Beatles share in that success he was constantly under a hell of a lot of pressure which he handed really well most of the time if he was prone to anger some of the time then it was understandable and did get into a few fights in his life and also admitted that the 2 occasions when he hit 2 women the first occasion his first girlfriend and once his first wife Cynthia he rightly admitted he was wrong in doing so they are 2 incidents he could never undo it would have been good if he lived to old age because he had really matures when he turned 40
Don't put people on Pedestals. Be strong in yourself,and you will go far. We all have our downfalls, but have the opportunity to learn from our mistakes.
He admitted how much it hurt him and his mother when his father abandoned them, yet he did the very same thing to his son and first wife (even though he had the means to support two households.) A-hole for sure.
