To those that have done this with plastic frames - do frames bend easily with some heat? I haven't tried yet but it seems like it would almost easily break or crack

Oh my god you just saved my favorite pair of glasses Insane that the clinic that promised to repair them if they get damaged told me that they only replace glasses, and that my model and everything similar to it was no longer being produced. I accidentally napped with my glasses on and woke up with the wire and lens out, I thought my glasses were toast! Can't believe my old tackle box was better equipped to fix glasses than my best eye clinic. Thank you so much for making this video 😁

Is there any room for error in doing this, or is it an easy fix by an optometrist with at least 15 years of experience? Thanks in advance.

I’m having issues “threading” the wire to stay to my lens.
@eyetalk1485
@eyetalk1485 Месяц назад
@@StevenBHorrorFan when you're threading your lens back into the wire, you have to make sure that the wire ends up inside the groove of the lens. It is easiest to do this from the temporal corner and then threading it towards the nasal corner. To do this, I typically use a thin piece of plastic, like one of those plastic wire that they sometimes use to wrap around boxes. If you have been able to thread it from side to side and the thread in the groove, and the lens still won't stay, then your thread is somehow too long and you'll have to undo one side pull it out a little tighter, and then put it back in. I hope this helps.

@@eyetalk1485 I realized I inserted the wire through the bottom hole on the wrong side lol. I now know to start pulling the wire in the bottom hole inward, then pull the wire through the top hole, from outside in. I got the wire somewhat in the groove of the lens, but when I started cutting excess wire, it came loose again 😂. I got the hang of it though so with practice I’m sure I can get it just right. Thanks for your help!

my frame has one hole for the wire on each side. what do I do?
@eyetalk1485
@eyetalk1485 2 месяца назад
Sorry to respond so late, technically you would need a special wire with a little stopper at the end. However, you can usually make this happen with your wire if you melted a little with a lighter at the very end, but be careful not to burn it too much. Once the end is melted a little if it creates a big bulb enough not to go through your whole great, if not, you can shape the melted plastic while it still hot to become a stopper. I hope this helps, good luck!

heyy thank you for this video but the problem with my glasses is a little different. the thing is the i think i sat o the corner of my glasses and the joint of the temple and the lens is crooked. it is tight so i cant move it but it doesn't sit right on my face and keeps bothering me. is there anyway to fix this without breaking anything.
@eyetalk1485
@eyetalk1485 2 месяца назад
Sorry to respond so late, I'm assuming you're frame is made of metal, if it's a regular type of metal and not a memory metal you should be able to bend it back. This may require a lot of force, and there is always a chance of snapping the material. If you were going to try to bend it, I recommend using two pliers and putting something soft in between the plier and the frame, as not to scratch the finish. If your frame is very thin, this may be hard to do either way, but it's probably the only way to straighten it out. Good luck.

Most eyeglass chains won't work on rimless glasses because if they break them they have to replace them. It's not that difficult to do yourself, especially with this video to guide you. I did it with the tools in my garage on a pair of older lenses, but ideally it's best to buy a repair kit to do it right. Just remember to protect your lenses from getting scratched by the tools. All parts and tools you need are readily available on ebay, Amazon, etc.

You made it look so simple, decided to give it a try. The hardest part was finding the right fishing pole to find some line that was a good match. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video.

That's what I am dealing with right now. My husband sat on his glasses during a visit to rural England. We can only find 0.3 mm fishing line - is that sufficient thickness? The original one looks somewhat thicker, and I have seen comments that it needs to be 0.4-0.45. However, in one of the responses @eyetalk1485 said 20lbs was a good fit, and that's what the 0.3 mm was. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello there, so sorry for the very late response but yes, it can be fixed. It requires a new string that is called a figure 8, I don't think there is anything that you can use to replace it other than a new figure 8 line from an optical place.
