They are there so that you can see and keep track of the the road better (and thus not take a wrong turn at any point) in case visibility is not as good as it is when this video is filmed. Obviously they don't grow there, they have simply been placed there.
Great to see that the Grand old is taking shape again after sad times in history. Perhaps that tower will be restored ones again, as home to all ghost, like the Headless Schulman 😉
Actually this isn't considered the "world's most dangerous road" at all. Single cars fall though from time to time, but the track is well regulated and there haven't been any accidents resulting in someone's death so far.
Highly recommend to stay at Matsi cottage. The place is easy to find and the owners are very responsive and get back to you in a timely manner if questions come up. The nature is beautiful and peaceful, the owners are friendly and welcoming. The breakfast that was prepared for us was delicious. It is not too far from the beach, about a 10min walk. Great place to see a beautiful Estonian sunset. Stayed only one night with my friends but we still talk about it.
This isn't the worlds most dangerous road. Granted it might be dangerous at certain times of the year and even if your car falls in you likely won't die if you can get out fast. There have been many deaths, and if you go there will be many crosses. It is where the people have lost their lives falling from the side. Some others just have their cars roll off the side.
