It seems like they got darker under the UV light than they did outside. I literally just got my first pair of transition Gen 8 in Amber. I wish they got darker outside 😢 nice video. Cool seeing how the lens is cut. ✌🏽✌🏽
Wow, these color transitions have been around for a while. But I just ordered some and wanted to see what they look like.iv never worn transitions before.ironic, considering I have super low light vision and the sun physically hurts.😅 They are sapphire too.
Hi Daniel - Can you show how it looks like through these brown xtractive with Gold flash mirror, similar to how you did it for the sapphire blue lens review?
I have a new video coming out Saturday morning on the @HicksBrunsonEyewear channel that will show exactly that. Head on over and subscribe and you won't miss it.
I'm really curious if you notice any increased glare due to the mirror. Is this lens available in High Index? Is it coated with an AR on both sides? How does it function at night time for something like driving compared to using them indoors?
Hello I recently bought a pair of masunaga sunglasses and does the anti glare you show also gives off like blue streaks when light from the sun comes in from the top or sides? It’s really noticeable and not sure on a fix
It sounds like you are catching some reflections from the sunlight that are impossible to completely eliminate. Masunaga frames have a good anti-reflective coating on the backside to reduce this, but in bright light it impossible to eliminate it. Blue is a reduced ‘less offensive’ to the eyes effect. If there were no coating they would be bright white streaks in the same sunlight with the lenses at the angle in front of your eyes.
I have a pair of the Splitz, I chose rose/purple. They were very stylish. I still have that pair. I was disappointed when I found out my Optometrist told me they were no longer carrying Splitz. I wanted to try the blue/green lenses next. My Sister and I both chose Splitz in the same color in smaller frames as you mentioned. But, I was in Cali and she was in WA state!! We only ordered one time. I would love to see them come back in different color combinations!! Thank you for the great reminder!
Thanks for sharing your story. I knew there were others of us out there that had them. There just weren’t enough of us for them to justify keeping them around.
Dear Daniel, I wanna thank you for all your videos on transitions lenses. I have watched many of them (repeatedly!) since last year. You have no idea how much you 've helped me so far. Actually because of this video I have already ordered the blue sapphire lenses in an aviator (Ray-Ban-like) black frame and I am looking forward to them. I love this very dark blue color, it looks kind of masculine and elegant. Thanks again Daniel, keep on doing all the good work. I definitely will keep watching your videos! Take care
Thank you for this nice review! Needless to say I have been MIA for a while on this channel. In case you have not yet found me I just wanted to let you know that most of my content is now appearing on the Hicks Brunson Eyewear channel.
It's false advertisement. It's true that they don't change to the color that you choose. They add a base grey or brown to make the lenses go darker which changes the actual color you choose. Nothing to do with any UV or climate you reside in. You pick your color to match your frame and you get a different color. The outer surface is not the same as the inside.
You are wrong @Rain. I have Sapphire Blue and the Ametyst, and the added base grey makes the lens so dark that it isn't a Sapphire or Amethyst color. Style Colors are to match the frames, not to be a total dark sunglass. The original and advertised colors have shown that fact. Research some more @Rain before you comment. @@Rain-oq7vh
I just ordered my first pair of transition lenses in my new frames with Sapphire Transition lenses. I was a bit worried everything would look blue, but I like that you said the colors look true so I’m excited to see what they’re like when they get here.
@@baseball12ification I really like them, but I don’t think they’re a perfect replacement for sunglasses. They are better than not having sunglasses, but they don’t feel like they block out as much as regular ones do. Also, the tint in my car prevents them from transitioning so on really sunny days I’ll wear regular sunglasses. That being said, I love them. I think they’re great at what they do and they transition insanely quickly to dark. Then they go back to mostly clear very quick, but the last little bit takes a second. They are extremely impressive technology. I really love them.
Would love to see the same kind of video made with the Transitions New Generation Style Mirrors with Brown and Gold, to see the difference, assuming this is the "regular" style mirrors, it still seems really great choice.. I have a pair of "normal" XTRActive Brown without any mirrors in my current Selecta mod. Roger frames and really love them, but got a pair of Desil mod. Consul on the way and was planning on whether to get the latest XTRActive New Generation Brown with Gold Mirror as they now seem to be available but have yet to see a proper video demonstration on those. Love this demonstration video anyways as it gives some idea what to expect but a comparison to the latest would be really great to see..
I currently have the Mirror Gold and I ordered the new gen 8 in amber + a pair with xtractive gold mirror! I might do a comparison video myself, as there is nobody who did this :/
I can already tell you that the new generation seems not to be such a strong mirror when inside anymore... I had the glasses in my hands yesterday before ordering and the gold glasses looked purple / blue inside o.O and when I got outside and the glas got darker, then it appeared in gold mirror.
Hello there , I just received my new transitions prescription and I got amethyst color Gen 8 . My next ones I cannot wait to get is the emerald but I LOVE TRANSITIONS ❤️
I purchased the Face a Face yellow frames because of this video. Thanks for introducing me to this great line! I tried the sapphire transitions but they are not as blue as I thought they would be. I find that they darken to more of a grey color.
I didn't know that all Transitions lenses use a base dark color such as grey and brown to make the Gen 8 lenses darker for all you folks. I personally feel you should produce what you advertise. Bases were not added in the original lenses and were advertised as such. The original Gen 8 lenses were colorful and changed to the dark color that were chosen. You could coordinate the colors with any colorful frame. Now they are Black, with no color. Why advertise and choose the different colors when you could've chose black lenses in the beginning. There's no new colors, just dark grey and dark brown. FALSE ADVERTISING!!
Hey There, I recently bought some 80s aviator frames similar to yours and my question is would you guys be able to fit and add tint with transitional lense?
Have ridden with and loved Rudy Project glasses for decades. In the past 3 years started wearing progressive glasses and sooooo wished I had stumbled across this video sooner. Thank you!!
You should choose the original Rydon frame, not the slim. The Rydon frame is available in classsic shape and a running shape. The only difference is the lens is slightly larger and is vented. You might also look at the new Magnus frame.
looks classy......and timeless. luv ❤️ those xtractive gold mirror lenses.....so i ordered the same lenses for my havana and gold coloured raybans. appreciate 🙏 your attentively detailed & informative review. well done.
>Can Transitions lenses possibly have a permanent like 10% brown tint, but still be Transition Xtractive brown (going fully brown outdoors, then permanently tinted indoors)?
