We are Jo, Michael and springer spaniel George, Narrowboat live-aboards and continuous cruisers since 2017. We have travelled on the whole intergraded canal and river network. New narrowboat vlogs here every Wednesday at 5pm and Sunday at 8am. We upload on our second channel EVERY DAY! We also make and sell maps of the waterways.
"Social consequences" -- you do look a little alien wearing those head lamps. :) Kind-of cool in a way, but you look better without them. I love Michael's perspective on things like, when it looks like you can step on something but you can't, or all that about the bridge moving. My brain comes up with similar things, but I don't know many other people like this, any more.
That was great again, poly bags in your shoes Michael, hope you got your phone fixed cheaply, don't ever stop the funny bits excellent sense of humour. All the best Gary n Irene.
I`m repairing a sunk boat starter motor tonight from Lincoln. A mercury engine. A rush job. Just on beer break watching your channel lol. I`ve done quite a few boat starters and alternator now.
I have a memory of lockdown when Michael posted an interesting explanation of the epidemic and his thoughts about how it could affect the population . I think it was before we had the vaccine.
I love these amazing iron bridges . We have a bascule bridge in my home town of Renfrew , Scotland . On the rare occasions when its opened , the whole town comes out to watch. Thanks as always for sharing xxx
Very relaxing. If you do go to Hull (or actually Beverley) you will see several more Scherzer rolling bridges - including some that still work. (Photos on my blog - June 2021).
You realy are too nice. People should be shown for who they are. A special video on how not to behave on the cannal would be great to see. There is a slim chance they didnt realise how rude they were and seeing themselves on video might make them better mannered to other people in future.
1. I'm so now trying kimchi with some sushi ginger. Also I may actually try making it myself, I really liked all the veggies you stick in yours. 2. Glad you left in the sideways shot of George. 3. Like the commentary style that you did for this one. I'm liking the variation on the videos.
Yes, just outside the marina near the service area (free) or further round/in the marina (charge). I’m hoping to get over on Sunday if you’re there I’ll say hello.
Hey fellow narrow boaters. That was us, Barry and Sandra, cruising through the sliding bridge wondering what on earth someone was doing walking their dog at that time of night 😂. I believe it’s now fixed? Hopefully. It was quite unnerving cruising in the dark. The lovely young couple were indeed amazing. Great write up in the Towpath Talk about them 🥰
OMG- was peeking through my fingers! Couldn't put my hand over my eyes - may run aground🥴😇 or into something! Hope all adventures from now are calmer🤞 Thanks for the wind turbine "clip" will share with daughter ( she had me driving down sketchy dirt roads recently chasing that elusive " best WT shot") Jan Adelaide South Aust
I guess for your first ever night time cruise, you might as well make it interesting and a bit challenging. I specially liked the shot with Jo taking B roll and then inserting them.
Not a fan of single handingin the dark - but pick a nice moonlit night and take it slow and it can be magical.. For so many things, head torches were a game changer 😊❤
Yes, head torches are very useful... until you look someone in the eyes. I can imagine a moonlit night cruise could be nice. Not sure about doing locks at night though,
@@MinimalList I have lights on my bicycle helmet which I use on the road so drivers can see me, but I can't see when they're on. The front one is basically a head torch, and every now and then I find myself wondering why someone's looking at me funny, or rather, _not_ looking at me, but doing it in a strange way, and then I realise. I feel quite bad when I forget it when I go into a shop. It doesn't help that the button is hard to find when you've got even the thinnest of gloves on, and you have to hold it for a bit.
I love your videos but it's definitely time to upgrade from Go Pro cameras, the night time performance is terrible,. insta 360.camaras are much superior in low light.
The towpath in the dark looked horrible, was there a reason for walking? Being on the boat looked like the better option, especially if a mooring spot had to be found.
Well done on that passage great content. It certainly is a feat of engineering and also ( despite the timing delay) a well considered project of refurbishment ?
Welcome to our neck of the woods (or bend in the river!). Our boat is at Goole Marina. It’s a great spot and very friendly. Don’t know where you are at present but lots to see. Cheers Les and Anne on Glendyne
@lesbrewer8431 we will be in goole marina in a couple of days. Hoping to head up the Ouse to York. Is there visitor mooring at the marina? we can't quite remember.
I'm considering this trip in my 27ft dawncraft to get from Leicester to Yorkshire quicker is there any requirements or advice it will be September when I make the trip Aby help appreciated 👍
Is it possible to go on a narrowboat cruise from the most southern canal in England which I think is Basingstoke to the Scottish border? I am not asking whether I can hire a boat that I could drive rather to take a charter cruise . How long would this journey take? The route I am looking for is the shortest route.
Canal plan is a really useful tool for looking up such things. canalplan.uk/cgi-bin/canal.cgi I just looked up Godalming Wharf which is the southerly most point on the network to Tewitfield Marina which is the most northern point and these were the results: This is a trip of 386 miles, 7½ furlongs and 186 locks from Godalming Wharf to Tewitfield Marina. This will take 180 hours and 58 minutes which is 25 days, 5 hours and 58 minutes at 7 hours per day.
@Glazepta thank you, I am in Australia so don't know the British Geography very well.Jo's maps help a lot. How long would it take to travel up the Exeter Canal to the Scottish border? I think the Grand Union is the longest canal so connecting to that would be essential.
