Indeed. You can get it up passed 6 in Skalitz if you loot the whole town. Skalitz is a valid option but it's not the most efficient place to level. You only get 4 lockpicks and the lock difficulties are all out of whack there. I've seen "very hard" locks I've opened at level 3 and I've seen "easy" locks I couldn't open until I was level 2 or 3. Skalitz is a pretty paranoid place. So many doors are "hard" locked, if not "very hard". There are witnesses everywhere and they never sleep. I've done it a few times and it can be really fun but it's certainly not for people that struggle with lockpicking, especially since you can't get more picks once they are broken (until talmberg). By waiting for Rattay, the player gets 15 picks and can be level 3 before leaving the mill (lasting lockpicks makes a huge difference). It's the easier and less risky option. Ledetchko doors are pretty much all "very easy" and only vendor chest are "very hard". There's more and better stuff to steal in ledetchko and since it's not time locked you can sleep, skip time, and vendors restock.
@@TrialBySquire I usually do the chests you are certain to get. One in your house, the 2 in Deutchs house as soon as he leaves, the ones in the tavern which there are 5 of (2 upstairs and 3 in the back room) and one in Kuneshs.
@@alanphelan9108 a solid plan. Do you happen to know how far away from level 3 that gets you? I never tracked the XP in Skalitz too closely. It's 11 locks in Rattay (the 10 training and the 1 easy next to it), but I don't know if those training locks are a special amount of XP. Skalitz locks are definitely non standard so I expect their XP output is non standard as well. With those 9 you do in skalitz, how many more do you have to unlock to reach level 3?
@@TrialBySquire well some of the houses where the chests are the doors are locked so they count as well. Also some of the npc’s re lock the doors when they enter and leave so you can do the lockpicking again. It’s crazy but level 3/4 would be doable.
@@alanphelan9108 absolutely doable, I agree. I recently leveled lockpicking in skalitz while doing some testing. I got to level 6 and starting getting all the vendor chests. Those doors getting locked again are really helpful and the only way some people get to level 20 in skalitz (which sounds awful grinding away a few doors all the way up to 20 🥵). The ones I found tricky are near the tavern because of the bailiff, Adam, and possibly Deutsch. I didn't kill them or lure them away and you gotta be so fast unlocking the tavern chest they can see through the window, and then the hard doors that are right across from the table they sit at. Thankfully, my visibility was pretty low with everything I'd accumulated so I had just enough time to pop them open. I had to load a few times to get it right, though. Good times, for sure. I don't personally feel Skalitz is a good place to level but I do think it's a really fun challenge area since it has some unique rules. The only thing you really get in Skalitz that you can't get later (and easier) is the speech XP. Once you leave the prologue all that dialogue is gone forever. Still, there's enough XP in the open world to Max speech without it.
Totally. I usually just sneak in rather than bother with joining the order. This was just another way to do it, and will get you the achievement for being a monk, which is nice. It also seems safer than the chaos after killing Pious in the night (depending on where he's sleeping). Those guards teleport in like ninjas. 🥷
That's a real solid tip. It's a shame there isn't a separate sensitivity slider for that but if someone is struggling and down to their last few picks I would say this is something they should try. Thanks for the comment! 🙏
Glad I’m seeing kingdom come videos all over the place. This game never got the love it truly deserves. Super stoked for the second one. In all my playthroughs never dabbled in alchemy but this time I want to max everything and try to 100% so appreciate the tips!
It looks like Warhorse is going to get a lot of attention with this sequel. I'm very happy for them; they deserve the recognition. I appreciate you watching and wish you a very successful playthrough. Leveling alchemy is pretty great. Once you have a stock of potions, sleeping becomes very optional and you're never without nourishment.
@@21_Germ it'll be intimidating to start from a place of no knowledge whilst competing with big channels that'll be around for the first big wave at release, but I'm sure to love the game and I'll find a way to share that love with all of you. I'm glad you're here to be a part of it. Cheers 🍻
"I know it's a well-covered game, it's over six years old" Yeah, but most of the other guides are vague and recycle the same tips, so if things aren't clicking for a player, one is just as unhelpful as the next. I think a lot of this has to do with an assumption (either intentional or unintentional) that this game is primarily player skill based, when in truth combat experience is hugely influenced by your stats. I appreciate that you acknowledge the importance of exp and raising your stats, this took me a couple of frustrating weeks to figure out on my own, but the combat became fun and engaging once I got over the initial stat handicap. I recommend this video to anyone having trouble with combat, even if you're not wanting to cheese it with exp farming.
I appreciate not only your thoughtful comment but also that you watched that far into the video! I try not to ramble that much anymore but it was kinda my "introduction video" since it was the first I talked in. One thing I really like about this method is that it can be used to ONLY level defence, instead of raising all combat skills to OP levels. This game is a bit about choosing your own difficulty level by deciding how much XP to grind, as you suggest, so It's great having a way to make master strikes easier to perform (to balance against multiple foes) but not necessarily make you too strong to enjoy the 1v1 encounters. How's your playthrough coming along? What's your favorite weapon?
I like anything short and stabby, which is a holdover from when I wasn't very good and found spamming stabs easiest. Now I'm fairly decent at swordplay, but stab spam is still really effective in certain situations if your target is distracted.
Thank you! This is the first video where I was really trying to do a good job, so it's meaningful to me for you to say that. The ones before this were basically just game clips with some light editing for my friends to see.
awesome video! this is my 5th playthrough and never seriously use Alchemy except whats needed to pass quests but this time im trying to use it more as i want to save as many people as possible from the plague
That's super cool! I think I was similar in that I largely ignored alchemy my first few playthroughs (and pickpocketing). It's a pretty fun mechanic, though. Good luck to you on your playthrough. May the people of Merhojed sing songs of your dedication to their safety!
That's really cool! It's quite fun to get into alchemy. I stopped sleeping and eating solid foods once I got stocked up. Potions like Bowman's Brew, bucks blood, and aqua vitalis give both nourishment and energy (with zero alcohol) so it's easy to do so. And a little extra tip for ya: If you care more about leveling alchemy than drinking, you don't have to grind any herbs like I do in the video. The XP is the same you just get less potions per brew. That'll save time getting to level 13 and unlocking Routine II.
Thanks! I wanted to show some lesser-discussed things and avoid the stuff everyone knows. Have you finished the game? What's your favorite weapon type?
Thank you so much, This was so informative for me, I appreciated your efforts in making it easy to understand as the game does not give you tips like this.
Happy to do it! I'm glad you enjoyed. I agree the game can be light on information. I found while doing this video that 2/3 of what the game says defence does isn't even true. 🤣 Good luck on your playthrough! 🍀
I'm guessing he also stole it from the Vicar's guard... I definitely love the look of this jacket and it's important to be well dressed when performing general banditry. 😎
For sure! Especially if you intend to complete the mission it's better to just knock them out and take their stuff. I will say, you can actually farm them if you cared to. You can kill just the guards with stealth kill to take their stuff and then wait 10 days for them to return and do it all again. I've done that on a run where I wasn't allowed to spend money (so I couldn't pay to repair overly distressed gear). This was just a super fast method for getting gear with little to no risk/effort. Definitely not the only way to approach it.
You can even have the ending where you leave with him and let him go. You just need to tell him you know he is Pious, then convince him that you want to help him escape and then do all the chores for him at night, evade the stupid monk guards and eventually wait just outside the monastery door with time skipping every time you need to and then rush back in and talk to him in the chapelle when needed.
@@TrialBySquire Well this one is more of a bug or a cheese. You can literally skip every routine in the monastery and just wait it out. :D It is not a legit way.
@@TrialBySquire The key to it is really just wait in front of the chapelle door, getting monastery key is must of course and then you need to talk to Pious any time he is just leaving the morning mass. This way you avoid most of the monks that otherwise expell you if they catch you because you are breaking their rules big time. Once you start convo with Pious, they can't touch you. Then you can also sneak in the monastery to order the fake blood, get it, distribute it and so on.
I did, yes. I parked my horse, popped in and dropped the dagger, and then put my stuff in that chest before joining the order. You don't need the dagger as you can just choke and kill but I thought I would add some style points.
Finally a helpful video thats not just "watch the shoulders!" It did feel insane that no matter what i did or how quick i was to press the button I just never hit a master strike no matter what. J actually am doing the rubber band as I write this and I've already gone up a level.
You want to do missions for the skalitz refugees, both in rattay and Sassau, as well as help out Fritz and Matthew. Those all should boost skalitz rep.
@@slacksviii9824 lol. Yeah. Skalitz rep doesn't really update until you leave so it's hard to know for much damage you're doing. You could have been offsetting with the Farkle table but you wouldn't really get the feedback on if it's working. I haven't done heavy experimenting with skalitz and the Farkle table.
I never knew tournament had such cool rewards, i guess it is time for my 5th run lol. No game does leveling as good as KDC, i think it is that we really like, feeling utterly hopeless at start then becoming a monster slowly.
Yeah it's super cool! Alongside stats it also boosts your reputation with Rattay, I believe, so there's a lot of utility with the tournaments. You can definitely take on the whole game using the rewards earned. I love that the Devs were willing to surround us with endgame loot at the start of the open world. We really get to choose if we want to do a slow rise with the campaign, go full thief and rob Rattay blind, or just be a champion of the people and earn awesome stuff in tournament. Aside from a little bit of level gating on weapons, we can really go from zero to hero before we ever report to radzig. Delicious freedom...
You'll need to be losing those games (I assume you are but just mentioning) but also it takes a few hours to be reflected. Try waiting a few hours and checking again. I'm not sure how frequently the number updates. Probably 4 hours wait is good enough but worst case try sleeping/waiting until passed midnight if the 4 hours didn't work. You should be up to 55 rep if you lost 10 games (with money on the line, not 0 groschen games).
Last thing I can think of is ensure you are not quitting too soon. Before the score card shows up (before the screen flashes black for a brief moment) will not count as a lost game. If you bet 1 groschen(minimum) and quit after the score cards show up then you should see reputation gained at the top left of the screen after you quit/lost. At that point it'll take a few in game hours to update on the rep page.
I was reading the wiki and it suggested it's the Dark Combat Jacket you can get from B.o.B. I know it can be wrong and I don't remember which I saw on him. Is it the Dark or Black on that dude? Wiki says Black can only be waldensians and ambushes but I'd love some first-hand accounts.
@@TrialBySquire ok correction IT IS the Dark Combat Jacket not the Black from the camp. Your way still. No idea if console commands disable trophies? But that’s prob an option too ;)
@@Calypso694 I really appreciate that follow up! Legend. There's still ambush encounters to get it if you're already passed waldensians. I'm pretty sure I've gottena second one that way and the wiki says you can.
Yeah this is basically what I did, I couldn't be bothered actually doing this quest The only difference is I didn't bother pickpocketing the key from the prior, I instead just went into the kitchen pantry and just grabbed the one from off the shelf. I don't know why its just left there, but I wasn't complaining, it made my life easier. I was literally in and out in 5 minutes, and 3 of them was the cutscene.
That's a good strat as well. I usually knock out the prior my first night in Sassau so I have the key well before the Monastery quest begins. There are no locked doors between the overseer's office and the Prior's quarters. It is funny how available that one in the kitchen storage is, though. I think a lot of people just accept the jail sentence which is valid but I rather prefer to get out undetected. I don't usually even become a monk but it's fun to mix it up.
Thats understandable, I love how many different ways you can problem solve in this game, it makes it super enjoyable for repeat playthroughs. I do recommend tho first time players actually do this quest as intended but every playthrough afterwards just do a variation of this strat because while the quest is good it is also just a hassle to do.
@@ItsYaBoiAram I totally agree. It should be experienced once, ideally before you know who Pious is. I think similarly about the prologue. First time, take your time and do all you can. Really ease into the game. But now? I'm so done grinding skalitz. I'm in and out the prologue in a hurry so I can play in the open world.
Oh totally, I spend the time I would've usually spent in Skalitz just blitzing around the map picking up mid-end game level gear before I even join Radzigs garrison. There's just something satisfying about pulling up in that cutscene in full kit instead of the dumb green shirt lmao
the question is do you have the saddles in your inventory after you get to talmburg? cause I tried few times and it just won't work. the item never moves into my inventory nor could I find it after reaching talmburg.
Yeah, I absolutely have the Noble saddle in my inventory when I get to Talmberg. I never did take the plain one, just unequipped it and left it on the horse, but the Noble I moved over. I'm not sure the nature of your problem but if you're saying the item never moves, check which button you are pressing. Moving an item from a horse uses a different button than moving an item from a chest. If you press and hold that button it'll actually drop the item on the ground. Maybe one of those are the issue? Let me know.
@shukthy hmm. I don't really know why that would happen. I always see it in my armor tab when I check my inventory. You can even see it in my newest video when I'm browsing my storage chest @ 19m11s
Holding the stick with two fingers is definitely a game changer. I was so frustrated when trying to pick locks that I've ignored it for a while. Thank you for giving lock picking some use to me.
Not that I'm aware of. There's one for becoming a Monk and there's ones for johanka dlc that requires you have gotten certain info from the monastery to report to the Inquisitor. This would satisfy the first achievement but not the second.
This is so stupid! What's the big hurry to get out? This rush means leaving vast amounts of experience and wealth left behind. The game is to be enjoyed, that's the reason for the development. Picking herbs in the very beginning increase needed for later. Fighting with Kunish increases Hand to Hand combat. Talking and exploring Skaltz and the people gives you additional knowledge. Selling items gives you money. Even stalking and lockpicking can be practiced all without penalty. If I were in in a hurry to finish the game in some record time, what's the point in even playing?
You are free to play any way you wish. I absolutely think first time players should play the prologue at a natural pace. This guide is for repeated playthroughs, for people looking to get back to the open world quickly. (I added to my pinned comment, encouraging newbies to play blind) Anything you can grind out in skalitz can be done as fast or faster in the open world. Speech XP is the only thing you're truly losing. If that's important to you, then yeah, don't follow this guide. Skalitz is a railroad. Time doesn't pass, you lose if you go to jail, you can't sleep, vendors don't reset, etc. Nothing wrong with grinding skalitz, I certainly did it a few times. But seriously, wealth? You'll get like 400 groschen if you get everything out of the vendors. You can sell all the gear you steal if you wish but I can get richer in ledetchko faster. There are only a few things worth getting in the prologue and still you can get them all later. A bow from a guard, tight black hose from the bailiff, and the quartered combat jacket from the Chamberlain in Talmberg. So please, you do you, absolutely. Nothing but love. Personally, on my tenth playthrough, I'd like to maybe punch a different set of cows...
Cause if you want an immersive experience at the start of the game but don't want to do the tutorial. Being overleveled god after slaughtering Skallitz is only so much fun after the 5th time.
For sure. The Devs did a great job giving a view of monastic life, and a fun little mystery to solve. It was also really smart of them to allow us to skip it. I couldn't imagine doing it every playthrough
All other kcd vids they have immersive musics and a lot of god be praised meme inputs but this video felt like somebody else’s dad trying to show me how to fix a car for the first time in a wholesome manner. Great video great vibe I will subscribe 🎉
Lol. Thanks, Bud! I'd love to be cool like those other guys but if I haven't learned how by now... It's a good compliment. I appreciate it. My main goal is to be a meaningful source of information for this community. I'll always work to improve and polish my future videos but I'm never going to sensationalize.
