@20Schmidt How long does the SSA retirement benefits application process normally take? (application submission confirmation to receiving award letter). Has been a 6-month wait for myself (application received confirmation on March 20, 2024) so far. My application has been reviewed and they said I have the 40+ work credits to receive benefits. Waiting for the award letter. Have read it usually takes 3-5 months. Can anyone who's been through the process tell me how long it took? Getting concerned (thought i'd have received my letter in August...realistic timeframe). Thank You for any input.

I don’t have the option of linking my bank account, however I have registered my card and that has gone through and there is no exclamation marks for me to link my bank account. Secondly the deposit fields are greyed out. Thirdly, even though I’ve registered my card, I cannot seem to buy any crypto as it is greyed out at £0. Can you please help me?
In principle, this process seems logical. However, when I attempted to verify my I.D., I received the, 'not possible to verify id' on screen message twice. On my third attempt, I was locked out for 24 hours. Now my only sane option is to call the S.S. admin and find out what's going on. Would be easier to visit a local SS office, but I'm out of the country [not on holiday]
Am I understanding this correctly? After doing all the online application etc... you still need to snail mail or hand deliver documents to the Social Security office?

@@kristihoeyart5341 You can do it online with social security. I can’t remember the exact date but I believe it’s two months prior to your 62nd birthday. It was a very fast procedure once it let me on the correct screen. 😂 and then you receive your first check two months after your birthday. Good luck.
So disappointed. HOW do I sign up for SPOUSAL benefits. I'm at FTA, but still working full time. My spouse started taking his SS 2 years ago, and I could have taken the spouse benefit at that time as well while letting my own build. NO WHERE is there a 'how to' for doing that. ....but you can find a hundred that covers only the main person applying.
