the sad thing is they were suppose to start rolling it out in like 1998 and be done way faster than it’s taking them now maybe 10-15 years but they took the money the government gave them and pocketed it slow getting it around starting about late 2000s
Crave TV is an f-ing scam, and a waste of money. The selection isn't as good as either Prime, Disney, or Netflix. Also, if you pre-purchase a fixed term, they will automatically renew it after and take your money again without consent. Apparently, they send you a warning email of their intent to automatically renew you subscription, and if you don't see and and cancel, they consider that consent to bill you again.
Anyone know what the average time frame is between the time when the initial underground conduit is buried until the fiber is available to the customers? One month? Three months? Longer?
Talks about directional drilling and then the end it looks like a vibro cable plow has done it... :O If it was the drill, there would be no disturbance on the top
Many years ago, a cable company came in trenched the old fashioned way, ripped apart my irrigation system and made a mess of the grass. Really annoying. Where I live now, we have a monopoly cable company with little competition, some 5G wireless internet and a few brand new neighborhoods that have direct to the home fiber. My speeds are sufficient for my internet speeds and the service is pretty reliable but with regular overnight outages for "upgrades". That is past my bedtime so it matters little to me .
Next 5 years neither internet service provider need these expensive time consuming process nor consumer need cable connection. Satellite 🛰️📡 internet is the future it will definitely reduce cost for internet companies and you will be able to connect from anywhere anytime
I don’t think so, the latency to space is far too high. And physics gets in the way of trying to get it any faster. In the uk fibre sometimes comes in over the streets on existing overhead telephone cables where the existing copper cables run. Much cheaper than digging.
Sorry but wrong , Latency is the key. Also if you were to say this 20 years ago I would 100% agree but it’s not to be . Direct cabling you cannot beat it .
My yard, a corner lot, was basically destroyed by this process by AT&T installers. It will take 2 years for my grass to recover. And they could care less.
They do what they can, but its simply not possible to make it like they was never there. Its still construction and they cant spend 4 days doing one yard, just not feasible. Whats more important, your yard or internet? You can always go to the library if its not good enough.
They were probably installing an entire network, not just a drop to a house. For the last 5 years, my lawn has been cut up. Cathodic water devices, water line replacement, sewer lining, a gas line replaced, and now fibre optic cabling. In all cases, I got the lawn to recover by the end of spring. Grass seed, fertilizer, water. The contractor that does the work has to do restoration. You still have to water it. If you have a restoration issue, call the city and they will make the company fix it. Too many complaints about the contractor and the company will not use them. You call AT&T who subs out the once in a lifetime installation for your neighborhood and they have no mechanism for dealing with that other than "reboot your device".
@@sebastianusami Wow. If you honestly believe that all of this destruction of PRIVATE property is actually necessary for us to have Internet, then you are about as clueless as a person can possibly be. We have ALL had Internet for a very long time now and the Internet speed for most people has been perfectly fine and they never had to dig up anybody’s yard, cut water lines and electrical lines in order to provide it. Not until NOW, that is. Have you ever stopped to ask WHY they are doing this? They’re coming into neighborhoods, doing a lot of destruction to install this cable and from everything I am hearing, people are not getting any answers when it’s time for somebody to pay for the repairs. So they come and they destroy and then they leave without fixing what they fucking destroyed. You sound like you are perfectly fine with all of this, so please do our country a favor and don’t vote.
My problem with the video is that the remote shown does not match my CityWest DVR remote. Maybe I'm being overly critical, but when you say to "press the "XX" button AND the "ZZ" button" are you are saying to press the "XX" button ...and the... "ZZ" button...AT THE SAME TIME...or are you saying to press the "XX" button and release ....and then....press the "ZZ" button and release? I have DVR device (is this a set top box?) I have a SETUP button. I don't have a WATCH CABLE TV button. When I have the Press "OK" button to watch TV screen, pressing "OK" button does nothing. How do I reprogram the ? button that switches you from controlling the TV functions to controlling the PVR functions? I can't even get to the PVR menu. Why did the remote just stop working...it's quite new and has fresh batteries?
