Teakwando of today is NEVER a self defence It’s just a look good competition art ITF has a very little hand striking & WTF is just poo. It’s made for the Olympics.
Fights don't start like that. You better just learn how to throw down instead of learn these techniques. Just learn kickboxing, boxing and judo , Jujitsu.
I am very critical of self-defense and have spent a lifetime being unimpressed with what many so-called traditional martial arts teach. This is not an example of that though..... For one they are going slow because they are yellow belts who are just learning the technique. For two this is a jujitsu technique that is even in the Gracie system, and has been taught to law enforcement in certain departments. There is an off balancing step that is missing but overall this is good.
To the people saying this won't work I've used it in jiu jitsu. What I think is a more valid criticism is the energy of the attacker is way too low, in order to train it effectively the uke has to gradually increase the intensity.
This is a nice play for beginners, yes. But it's not self-defense training. It's a pointless tradition to learn grips this way. I swear you won't grab me like that and neither will I grab you like that if we're in conflict. I'd push, kick or punch. Maybe headbutt or elbow you guys. I definitely wouldn't wait for you to make that grip and not punch you. The screaming is also not really helpful.

Its a yellow belt technique, basic movement for simple situation. What you need to take from it is the twist of the arm. You can apply it for example by going to the clinch, throw a knee to the body or the groing, then do the twist of the arm to control your opponent. None of the throws techniques that traditionals martials arts teach work by themselves. You either have to catch your opponent off guard or off balance

Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got amazing success with it.
Used to catch Spanish Mackerels, Mackerels, Bonitas few years back. it is quite spectacular during a full moon when the wind is calm with warm waters. the Mackerels dart like fireworks. is very beautiful to watch

That was the first boat me and my pops fished on in the early 70s when it used to run one day trips to Catalina out of Redondo Beach, we also fished on the Sharp Shooter out of 22 nd. st.
