THE WAY COACHHURLEY STANDS HERE WITH HIS ARMS OUT STRETCHED LOOKS LIKE WHEN PLAYERS TURN TO THECROWD FOR CHEERING SUPPORT . LOVE YOUR CROWD , I GUESS , BUT STAND THIS WAY TOWARD THE COACH & YOUR TEAM MATES & WAVE FOR THEIR SUPPORT BECAUSE THE CROWD IS JUST A GROUP OF STRANGERS THERE FOR THE THRILL OF IT WHEREAS THE BEST SUPPORT YOU CAN GET IS YOUR COACH & TEAM MATES . (THEY HAVE PRACTICED WHAT YOU NEED TO RECALL ON FOR FEEDBACK YOU NEED THE MOST) .
First clip - terrible defense. No high pick up on a ball handler. Rotation defenders are not in spot and moving one second slow. Not ready for rotation. On ball defender doesn’t avoid screen.
Thanks for the comment. I believe the best way to approach the game is to always anticipate shooting it first. You can always change your mind and pass based on what the defense does, but too many players predetermine passing it first & they hesitate, which takes away their open shot. Take a look at the video below, I think it will explain it well! Let me know if you have more questions. Are You Reading Defenders When You Drive? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-00yI9CC024o.html
I’m currently watching game 6 spurs vs heat 2013 finals and because I’ve watched all your videos over and over again for the last 3 weeks I’m calling out plays before I see them happen. I’m seeing two guard one very quickly. I’m noticing when the spacing is messed up it makes it tougher for the person with the ball to make a decision. I’m seeing when cutters should have cut to the basket !!!
I’m not an official, but they would use the term “legal guarding position”. And what the lead official must have felt like happened was Flip established that legal guarding position around the elbow, and then Ballo displaced him when he went to post him up. You may disagree with that call, but that’s the explanation you would most likely get from an official.
In my opinion, I would say the guy who is guarding you is your primary defender, and his job is to keep you from getting to the basket. The defenders away from the basketball have decisions that they have to make. That’s why I would not consider the on-ball one of your reads, because you already know he’s trying to stop you. Let me know if that makes sense. Thanks for the question!
Got one more for you. Keep somebody in front and don't give up straight line drives. Some programs have rule, if player needs less than 3 dribbles to beat you, you "do not deserve help." Also now with more programs switching learn how 3/4 post on any position, front post, and as a big how to use length to stay in front of faster guards.
Next big thing is post up out of the short corners, it flattens out defense so much and hard to see off the ball players movement. Let me know if you see any teams do that in Europe. Only team who consistently did it was Boston Celtics at this moment, but coaches will catch up.
The first level is only referring to help defenders. If you’re struggling to get past your defender, that’s when you should look for opportunities to drive close outs, or utilize ball screens to get downhill. I’ll attach links to 2 videos that I think could help you.
Great video. Would say even two feet or one/two can be broken in few categories. Like inside-outside foot if defender on the hip to extend, OR outside-inside foot to shield the ball, or strength hop through on both feet. Also, slow step is gaining popularity, and be different rhythm changer first or second step slow, or both.
@@TheFilmRoom1 you are my favorite basketball channel I watched all your videos at least 5 times. I even try and teach my friends your concepts like the gap theory and apply it to 2k. Can you go over on how to play like a sharpshooter. When I’m in the gym I hit like 2/10 shots from 3s. And mid range probably like 4/10
Hey coach, I was watching your playlist about ballscreens and I noticed that you put there a video called "How to Start Flipping Houses as a Beginner" 😅
I'm always hearing about women screaming for equality. In that case, the balls should be exactly the same size. If you are going to use a smaller ball, the circumference of the rim should be smaller. BE FAIR!!!!!
W video. Could you make a video on how to be an elite shooter? Could you also make a video on how to handle aggressive defenders who pressure you 24/7? Thanks.
@@TheFilmRoom1 I know your channel doesn't really do drills but I would like to see drills that help teach some of these things you go over. For example I saw some videos where you went over a bunch of offense actions and different types of screens. It would be nice to incorporate a way to teach these things to the youth. As well as different defensive concepts and strategy. Not necessarily the types of defenses like zone and man but the strategy that goes into why you would play a particular team or player a certain way beyond the typical he can't shoot give him space etc
@@TheFilmRoom1 man right now I have no luck. I been working all summer man I swear 4/5-7 hours (3-4 workouts) 5 days a week, twice Saturday, 1 rest day. Been trying to get in contact with my local D1 and some other Jucos and D3 but bruh they all have their rosters full and posted🤦🏾♂️. No clue what to do now. Just staying prayed up and working hard 🤷🏾♂️. Thank you for the support tho means a lot🙏💕
@@TheFilmRoom1 George Mason is my local D1. I’m from Fort Belvoir, VA. Was going to play for NOVA community college cause that’s my local juco but they terminated their team 2 games before the playoffs last year craziest thing ever lol. I can send you some of my contact information if you want. Not sure if you’re serious but imma take this as serious as possible 👀
Such a pleasure to watch products of a coach who's gone back to "Basketball". This is such a well coached team. Well done to the coaching staff for sticking with fundamentals, and discarding exhibition style basketball. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That’s debatable. If the second level rotates and you have to pass it out, technically the backside help would be another “read” so you could consider that the 3rd level.
Flop and then the ref will call the illegal screen, Kevin is really careless about his screens and moves alot, so if you notice the illegal screen flop or shout or something like that to get the refs attention on it
It depends on the coaching philosophy. Some coaches have a no middle style but others may try to funnel defenders to the paint usually becasue they have an elite rim protector
