What a great little instrument this is. Designed for playing chords and very simple melodies, Blues and Jazz players have found ways of playing to produce notes the harmonica was never designed to play!! A series of chance discoveries has enabled the instrument to be played fully chromatically like a piano in the hands of the very best players.
The harmonica is cheap to buy. You can pop it in your pocket. No other instrument uses inhale as well as exhale to produce notes
You can get different sound tones by the way you shape your mouth and cup your hands round the harmonica.
It's probably the easiest of instruments to pick up and start playing but takes a lot of practice to master all the various techniques and I am still learning after many years playing.
You may have guessed - I'm a fan and I urge you to give it a try!!
I sing and play guitar on a handful of my vids but most of the vids are devoted to playing harmonica.
Very pretty. I don't know if I could walk backwards and play without hurting myself. The first two bars sound like the theme riff from Empire State of Mind... the New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of part. :)
Thanks & 😅. I didn't have the software for reversing the video as was used in the original song video and have to admit, I cracked my elbow on the kitchen door frame on my first take! 😅
Its a 1 for the money a 2 for the show a 3 now ready a go cat go but dont ya step on my blue suede shoes, you can do anything but steppa off of my blue suede shoes...
Well done. Great tribute to my blues hero. Thank you. I'm gonna fight for you JM! PS - at last someone can play decent blues harp while playing guitar.
Here is a link to the chords I used in the whole song by John Mayall - 'The death of J B Lenoir' I had my Capo on Fret 1.
