I got one that was from ab attic with rats and body was bad . I cut out a section on my Badcat speaker Cab. Replaced all the tubes upgraded and is the best sounding amp I've ever had. I think I will install a fan for cooling . It changed how I thought about crate. Hidden gem

Great video. For me it is also the same D-strong piezo that sounded very dull and almost half as loud as the other onces. I looked around for a replacement piezo but noone appears to hasvd this part in stock anymore in the US. Glad i saw you describe the part abput the grounding and how it needs to be cleaned. So i went ahead an sprayed some deoxid on the piezo/saddle and let it do it’s work. It actually made the piezo sound a lot louder and brighter again. So that is definitely worth trying out first too for folks if their piezo sounds very dull and low output. I think in my case it was indeed a little bit ‘dirty’ grounding issue.

That is a perfect lesson and explanation. I have to dig out my lap steel and try this. I have a pedal steel, but have an interest in playing with my lap steel to try this. Thanks!

I finally scored an ACE model with the horseshoe pickup! So stoked. She should arrive in a few days. I knew opportunity would knock and i would strike while the iron was hot.

I got my piezos replaced at my local guitar shop. I thought the process would be harder. But it's a relatively simple solder job. Anyway: Thanks for the video.

Possible but more likely it is dirt causing a bad ground where the piezo fits in or replace the piezo.

If Santo and Johnny had used Rickenbacker lap steel's when recording "sleepwalk" and "teardrop" the harmonics would have sustained even longer. When i was a younger man, i didn't know how to play this style and one of these came my way. I sold it for a small profit and now wish i had it. I do have an NS which sounds great. They are more common but pretty cool anyway. I'll find a bakelite lap steel one of these days that's affordable...Or will I? They keep going up in price. :(

I’ve been playing guitar for 4 years now I consider my self pretty good but this guy just taught me what people mean by naming chords by numbers in the most basic way possible. I don’t know why some people just have a knack for teaching… this guy really has it

I have a 78. mag 1. The skunk stripe is carbon graphite. Mine failed due to wood shrinkage. Popped out since the stripe doesn't shrink like the wood does. Mine also has a twisted neck. Still fighting it.

I'm currently having an issue with my JTV-69 where my high E and B strings seem about 3dB quieter than all the rest. I turned the rest down in workbench to compensate for now, but it's annoying. Also tried dripping Deoxit in the saddles as suggested on the forums.

@rolatau

Yesterday evening I had also some piezo troubles with my JTV-69. From one moment to another four strings were "dead" with no tone coming out. Ouch! I first thought the electronics failed and so I checked the pickup plate and the electronic main board. But couldn´t see any issues like loosened plugs or broken cables. Pickup mode always plays correct. Fortunately the tremolo unit fell into my hand while loosening the strings. I knocked on those little metal parts - obviousely the piezos - and four of them were dead. I took a fine brush to clean them and suddenly one more works again. After and after while I was knocking and brushing around them all three other piezos came back to function. I have no good explanation of what went wrong. Perhaps the piezos had lost ground contact but why then all four at the same moment?......McMurphy will know.

How much did it sell for?
@tradscendence
@tradscendence 2 года назад
Okay, so, on one hand, you just saved me thousands of dollars. And then on the other hand, you just saved me about 200 dollars from getting a multibender. This video is the only coupon I needed. Bravo! <3
@mattolsonmusic8683
@mattolsonmusic8683 2 года назад
Gotta tell you though, I was doing it this way then I got a multi bender and it really took it to the next level. That being said, the behind the nut stuff is very slick and I still use it for certain things that I can’t do with my benders (like half step bend on the B strings or any bend on the high E) and it’s a very handy trick to have in your tool belt. But yeah, the certano benders are way worth 150-200$ or however much they are now.
@tradscendence
@tradscendence 2 года назад
@@mattolsonmusic8683 Seems like a lotta work to me to be honest (mixing the multibenders in), if that makes any sense. Since this comment I've enjoyed the freedom of being able to bend wherever I want to however many steps I want, even two strings at a time, and I quite often use the high E. I'm not sure I'm convinced that the bender is worth it... however I'm still kinda split on the idea.
@tradscendence
@tradscendence 2 года назад
@@mattolsonmusic8683 However, I'll add that I play guitar (including 12-string), a Sitar, a Baglama Saz, Banjo, and bowed stringed instruments as well, so might be because I'm already used to manual bends and trust my tone at this point... It's just bending from a different angle is all. But given my general experience, I probably wouldn't recommend this technique for everybody, wherefore multibender might be more practical option if that makes any sense .-,
