Nice video, but your phrase "Possibly represents hundreds of millions of deaths throughout history." is a little off in regards to the science of population demographics. Over the course of the last ten thousand years there have been literally over a hundred billion people. Considering the amount of war in early human history, it is not dramatic to assume that perhaps several billion people have died through murder.
Thanks for checking out the video. It is really speculation. I think at the time I put this video together the "source" (which was really broad in its range) stated between 150 million - 1 billion deaths related to warfare. www.nytimes.com/2003/07/06/books/chapters/what-every-person-should-know-about-war.html
My perspective is that consumerism is the unconscious buying behavior to try to resolve an undefined emotional need. That is poverty level consciousness. I perceive that to be different than conscious buying decisions for specific purposes. One of which being self improvement in this case. I want people to have nice, new things and fun experiences; simply be clear about the why. There is no shame or guilt to be had in having the best and being able to pay people well to do their jobs or buy their products. Nowhere do I state having money, pursuing wealth or spending money is bad. Money is a current that simply shows what you value.
+Michael Emery GREAT! Will be later tonight, but I'm looking forward to checking out the app, as well as your content...it is always good! See you soon.
What's with the long skinny table and you positioned at that exact spot? I've seen this in selling demos before. Clearly it's a psychological tool. Wondering exactly what it's supposed to do to those who watch.
Personal development plan is determine that main goal in your life - something that you work towards each day, or something that you wish to work towards each day. Determining your life goal is the best way to move through life on a mission, with aim, and with the focus to achieve the things you want in life. My daddy suggest me this site yourinnerdimension.com for the self-improvement. Thanks for the inspirational video
Thank you Billy and Michael for sharing your conversation. I was struck especially by the discourse about 'the third decision', 'the blue note'; what comes out from wrestling with conflicting values, sounds, thoughts, ideas or beliefs. As I heard you talking about this, I realised this is what I'm waiting for presently as I wrestle with the cognitive dissonance related to expressing myself in writing to share with others. The idea of being able to 'begin anew when I meet with you' in Billy's song 'Eventide' has always resonated with me. 'You know what you can do' often plays in my head whenever I am at a crossroads in my life. For me, this phrase means I am at the point where I meet with myself to return to that point of becoming (with an emphasis on the be) and I realise that I've been here before, I recognise it as a place of growth. It is also a place of belonging (again with the accent on the be). And here is the sense of commonality with both of you, that somehow links us. We all need to go away from the harbour, out on our own sometimes, in order to create something we might share with others that will be of value. This is a personal journey and we never know where it will lead to, what the outcome may be. At a point where I am struggling with continuing onwards, it's good to remember that I am not alone, that you have both been in this place as have others. And I thank you for the opportunity to share something of myself here and my own creative process.
I believe the future lies in the uncharted territories physically, psychologically and spiritually. Leaving the harbor is an archetypal theme and from my understand of Joseph Campbell's work, it is the beginning of the Hero's Journey. The journey is an individual one, but in spirit we are not alone. As Joseph Campbell wrote in The Hero With A Thousand Faces: "Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; and where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world."
***** Catherine, thank you for the kind comments. Blue Notes, I will never forget hearing that anecdote. It rings as true to me now as it did then. It's nice to see this conversation picking up views. For what was a completely unplanned talk we did manage to hit a few good spots and the time just flew by. If you're watching this and don't know Michael's work, go get it. (From the background on his side he looks like he needs some furniture!) :-)
Billy Franks Just got back from seeing the premiere of Nick Cave's movie "20,000 Days on Earth" and I recommend you both go see it for more on artistic process and the full creative process. It's absolutely inspiring as a creative work itself as well as the themes explored in Nick's narrative and beautifully shot over the time of recording "Push the Sky Away". On general release from Friday 19th September.
fhi, I am Christina Pingo from Kuwait, and I am looking for some hypnosis tools to help me. I suffer from depression and badly need help. Please help me if you can. Regards, Christina Pingo
My opinion is that "sensing" other people's feelings is akin to mind reading (in the NLP sense). Its a complex weave of reading body language, assigning meaning to the context, drawing upon your paradigm, and anticipating how the other person may act. These skills can be highly refined but I would never count on them as being 100% accurate...
Michael, I agree with what you have said. But doesn't it mean that we should learn how to sense and feel other people's feelings first? Unless we do so there is perhaps no way to "pace".
Thank you so much for posting this video, and for also providing more information on this topic. I am finally focussing on how to convert anger into something more constructive for me to use than to ask myself why it keeps coming up, because I already know why. So thank you for showing us the next stage!
I'm still not sure hypnosis works for weight loss. I tried it a few years ago but the hypnotherapist wasn't very good. I like this guy's voice. Is he the one who is on the hypnosis audios?
Hello! Thank you for this helpful video. By the way, I notice lots of people keep on talking about Xocialign System (just google it), but I'm not sure if it is really good. Have you tried program called Xocialign System? I have heard some unbelivable things about it and my friend completely end his social anxiety naturally with this system.
