My name is Jean, and I produce videos about Linux and Open Source. The videos are made for beginners, but also some advanced usres should find suitable content. Often my focus is on Linux Mint, which I use since 2015. But the most tutorials should be also work on other distributions without big changes.
I also run a german RU-vid channel since 2015. - @LinuxGuides
Thanks a lot for this very useful video. I'm very new with LINUX, I've been trying MINT, UBUNTU but got issues with the wireless adapter and finally decided to install (successfully) DEBIAN 12.7. I've installed two DE (GNOME and CINNAMON) and for now I've done all following your video and it makes me happy. I'll be now able to install the applications I need and will make many progress. Very nice job 👍🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, it works, but I can not login from SchildiChat or ElementX on Android. Could you explain how to setup Sliding Sync so that we can use the Matrix 2.0 and Element X.
GNOME 47’s apps are already entering Debian 13(testing)’s main repository, and the kernel is at 6.10.9 as of now, so it’s looking like Debian 13 will bring the Debian desktop much more up-to-date when it launches next year - probably bringing many more users to Debian in the process.
Holy cow, thank you for this. I really want to love Debian but their website/install is, um, 'challenging' for a new guy. This was very helpful. Loving the Linux Assistant. Cheers and thanks much again.
Well done!!! Excellent Video for both installing and using Bottles. What I would like to know is how to delete Bottles that didn't work and how to find where the bottles are stored. It says Bottles stored in "Default Directory" but I couldn't find what the default directory is named

If only there was a way to run Windows VM's with GPU passthrough, so many of us could make the transition to Linux without interrupting our much relied-upon Windows apps :(
I'm gonna leave this comment here If you just got started with something new, don't try to make it feel like the old thing you used to be using (pun unintended), give it a few weeks, try to get used to it, you will find it easier to use the new thing the way it wants you to use, I myself tried so hard, for the last few months, to make the most Windows experience on my Linux Distro, I tried to make all the windows apps I had to work, I tried to match the theme and workflow, but I never got any of my important work finished on Linux, because I was too busy trying to force it to be something else, but then I started getting used to Linux apps, and felt so much better and productive leaving the past behind me, it surely can suck sometimes, but you can proceed into the future if you don't let your past go into the past, work smarter, not harder! have a nice computer experience <3 <3 <3
Excellent guide-thanks mate. Very clear, well paced, and concise. It’s good to know it’s possible to decouple from Apple’s iCloud in a way that maintains the usability of their products (e.g. iPhone).
I hate the Desktop Debian uses. Maybe hate is not a strong enough term. I prefer the Xfce, by quite a wide margin. The OS and its controls should stay out of the way. It should never be the center attraction or the whole show. Yeah, I know programmers like to be the focal point but you guys should know better. Let the end users decide every point of the interface. The biggest error is the was the whole desktop is consumed for every little choice. Really, who else would be so in love with their own work? Hide it. We don't get a computer so we can fiddle with to OS. And when I say hide it, I don't mean behind a lot of jargon. Make context sensitive submenus (like right click) control most things. What's wrong with calling an app by what it does like file manager instead of Thunar? Get all those geeky clever names out of there. Call it mail instead of Thunderbird. Yes, I know Xfce does many of the same showoffy things, but the worst case is the Debian desktop. The worst!
Well as a newly, ready to oust windows os & Microsoft… I found this instructions vid, and your demo, explanations, and step through, easy to follow. Much appreciated. Thanks 👍🏼🇦🇺
I use a macbook pro 2012 with 8/500 SSD. I have installed mint but it was impossible to manage correctly the screen light control. The B43 firmware of the wifi card was correctly installed. I had lags and the user experience was not as I wanted. I returned on debian 12. After a few tweaks (I had to connect the computer with my phone)first in USB for connecting the internet) everything was ok....It works fluently so in my opinion take the model and not the copy. It's a "little" bit more difficult to install but the result is excellent
Hello thanks for the presentation, but I get an error message that the repository may no longer be available due to error during the signature verification! So I don't get so far as to see the new update.
Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the easy steps and breakdown of the installation. I’ve been a windows baby my entire life and was comfortable in my zone but after forcing copilot AI onto me, I’ve finally had enough of MS’s invasive bullcrap. Will be binging more of your videos in the near future and thanks again for helping new converts like me!
