Homesteading in the City and a Family Adventure! Hi my name is Donna and I am a mom to 2 boys (preschooler and toddler)... 3 if you count my husband!
Join me and my family as we find adventure in our everyday life. We love exploring our city Edmonton Alberta Canada, cooking together at home, fermented foods (like sourdough, kombucha, and yogurt), our urban backyard chickens, and spending time as a family. We started up a RU-vid channel in 2021 to give family and friends a different way to get to know us. I hope we can provide positive family ideas and inspiration for other growing families out there.
Follow our life journey here by hitting that subscribe button- because there is always something brewing at the Baker house! New videos posted every Saturday and sporadically extras. If you enjoy this channel please like, comment and share.
It seems like your videos have great potential but are facing challenges in reaching a wider audience. Here are some possible reasons: 1. SEO Optimization 2. Target Audience Reach 3. Effective Use of Hash tags 4. Social Media sharing By addressing these areas, you can enhance your video's visibility and attract more viewers. I can help with that. My info is on this very channel I'm using to comment.
Oh my, oh my, those cheddar chive biscuits had salivating LOL! How cool that you dehydrate mint for tea! I love a nice cup of tea, but of course, coffee trumps tea in my house.
Hi 👋 new to your channel and happy we got to collab!! Ohhh sounds there’s a lot of fun things coming up and including birthdays 🎉I love the outings and pumpkin spice latte sounded amazing 🤩
🐇 We don't grow any vegetables but we do love to forage in the back yard for dandelions, plantains, lemon balm, and peppermint for our bunny. I had my first peppermint tea last night because it's been chilly lately here in Niagara Falls too. I'm not a pumpkin spice fan but I like chai or apple cinnamon tea for the fall vibes.
I love meeting a fellow forager! That is super great and very resourceful way to feed your little furry friend! We looked after a rabbit for some friends while they were gone and it surprised me how much variety of leafy greens they really do like. I adore chai and apple cinnamon too! Totally grew up having apple cinnamon tea lots in the winter time. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🧡🧡🧡
Hey Donna! I loved this video! So many cute finds at Costco. Your canning and gardening videos are always so inspiring. 🩷🩷🩷 Wow that homemade pumpkin spice chai looks so delicious! I need to make that this season. 🍁
Thank you so much for hosting another round of homemaker collabs this month- so much fall inspiration! Awe thanks for your comments about my video - I have really 'fall'en in love with gardening (so punny tee hehe) and I'm excited to share the fun little homesteading and gardening discoveries I'm making along the way. Hope you get lots of PSLs this fall season!
I like to call it being frugal (the fancy sophisticated way to say we are cheap!) haha - a few dollars saved on a coffee goes a long way! Especially with the cost of things these days! And ps a homemade one always tastes better than the store bought ones anyways!
I do birthday month! My birthday is September 24th and I feel like every day is my day this month LOL. The cheddar chive biscuits look like they were warm, moist, and delicious! I love your garden too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It is nice to be part of the collab with you! I am glad you enjoyed the recipes! If you do make the biscuits and are not using sourdough you can just add a bit more milk until the texture is nice and gooey. 👍👍👍
I need that alien from Costco 😂 The cheddar chive biscuits look delicious!! Love PSL this time of year! I will definitely be trying both the biscuits and your PSL 🙂 Love the bloopers at the end 😂
Haha thank you for watching! It's so nice to see you in the collab here again! Love all the fall things everyone shared. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the recipes I shared on this one :) and the extra little bloopers- such a funny moment haha when we put chilli powder in instead of cinnamon, oh well keep it rolling! 🤣😆🤣😆
Loved meeting you in this collab! Costco has some wicked good Halloween finds and of course every season it's always something new and different. Last year they had these ultra cute skeletons doing yoga poses I wanted one so bad - convinced the hubby to buy it, but when we got it home found it was shattered so that was the end of that dream - back to inflatables for us! Haha
Thank you! I tasted pretty fantastic too! ;) Happy Fall season to you! Thanks for watching and taking part in the collab! It's nice to meet so many talented creators.
This is really cool! I've never seen potatoes turned into buns and you gave great tips along the way. It looks like a perfect way to use potatoes from the garden for something different and delicious. Also save a trip to the store and have the freshest burger buns you could ask for! 🍔🍔😋😋🍠🥔👍👍
Thanks so much! 😊 I couldn't have said it better! Homemade and unique. This recipe takes a bit more effort but I have really liked it every time I do make it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment - you are an amazing supporter and I really appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments you always leave us 💛💛💛❤💛❤
Oh my oh my potatoes into buns oh yeah! I have been meaning to get a ricer but glad to know you can use a food processor to make the dough. You know I have to let go of my fear and try making my own sourdough! Holy cow it's Batman LOL! So cute! They turned out great!
Haha glad you enjoyed the cardboard Batman appearance. The potato buns are so good! I can see it being even better with a ricer or just easier lol but the processor did get the job done! When you are ready to take on that sourdough challenge I did a video a little while ago about how to make your own starter - it's really super simple: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vpvffofzKGo.htmlsi=Lfg1AxtBtPAXr9n5
Thank you 😋 they are so creative with their cardboard creations lol! If you haven't yet seen our Craft Table video that is where all the cardboard creations have come from: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nCB-jfJd5nQ.html
Aww, what a handsome helper you have there! The cake looks so good! I definitely wish I had a piece of it now LOL! Thank you for sharing your recipe and providing the step-by-step instructions.
Thank you so much 🤗 You are so sweet! Even though I had some difficulty getting them out of the ramekins once you cover them in icing sugar no one is the wiser 😜 Next time more butter/cooking spray for the ramekins! Haha I love how easy this recipe turned out though hope you will give it a try. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment
Thank you 😋 always learning and experimenting! Hopefully to tips o left in this video help remind myself how to do it again next batch (or what not to do again!) 😅 Lol thanks for always watching and leaving us a comment 🙏🙏🙏 love and appreciate you!
Hi Donna! I’ve tried making lava cakes too with the same results, but I bet they tasted really delicious and the presentation with the mint and powdered sugar was beautiful! ❤❤
Oh good to know! It must be really hard to hit that perfect sweet spot of molten goodness! But yes they tasted absolutely divine! Definitely looking forward to making this recipe again...but with all dark chocolate ;) Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment.
Hi Donna! OMG! I don’t even have words for this video because this cake looks amazing!!! OK it was a little cute that you were melting the rabbit for this video🤍🤍🤍 Wow, this looks so delicious. I really need to try this one out. Thanks for sharing.🤗
Haha thank you so much! I had to laugh out loud when I grabbed the leftover easter bunny and found his head was pretty much all that remainder - just the right amount for this recipe!
Thank you so much 🤗 that’s so fun that your hubby makes them! After we made them my hubby asked if we could make them again! He enjoyed the results just as much as the kids lol thanks for watching! 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! We love sourdough in this house and we’re so happy with how this recipe turned out. Haha it was fun being part of this vintage desserts collab! Enjoyed seeing how your coffee jelly turned out ☕️
Please do! This was such a super dessert! It was fun, and easy, and the result was like ULTRA gooey goodness ❤️ 🤎 thanks for watching and leaving a comment 🙏🙏🙏
