Not terrible, might be okay for BJJ guys or even MMA guys. But a single leg is head on the inside (correctl in the video) and the outside knee down, not the inside knee. You can shoot in with the inside knee down, but you should reach with the left hand first, then a near-instantaneous knee-switch to the outside knee, wrapping your right hand around the leg at the same time. That’s called a “knee-pull,” though, a variation of a single leg.
Sakuraba clearly also went for single leg takedowns, head on the outside, as well. He is pretty legit in his wrestling knowledge and was great at the single leg takedown. So why did he so that, if it was such a bad move, really?
liukang85 saku is my favorite of all time but that rule is pretty crystal clear. Single head inside, double outside. Maybe it’s preference, maybe they teach is different in Japan?
Best single let breakdown in ages. MORE FROM THIS GUY please. I've been taking wrestling classes for a while and these simple details have never been brought up. Elbow deep, single shoot outside - head in, double shoot inside head out. Love it. More from this guy!
@@jrack900 Well mostly because it's faster, it's less telegraphed, and you're already close enough that you don't need to step with the back leg. Also, when you step with the front leg, you can push off the ground with the back leg, driving you in more
Jason Miller Wow..great clinic. very well explained. I think I have been missing the duck walk part of my shots. Will implement them in class tonight. Thank you.
Great video/tutorial here Jason I was very impressed with your knowledge and expertise regarding single leg and double-leg takedowns, as well as the general rules that prevent mistakes. Honestly I thought this was more of a wrestling demo because of the shoes and the mats lol. But then I heard you mention the guillotine and saw the title of the video Jiu-Jitsu map, not that it matters because I just wanted some more insight on the single leg especially. Just gotta remember single leg=head on the inside & double leg=head on the outside!
